Dyeing Poison Dart Frog Tadpole (Dendrobates tinctorius), Azureus
Description
Poison dart frog tadpoles are recommended to be individually reared in 16 oz. cups, due to their cannibalistic nature. The tadpole cup should be filled with at least 10 oz. of tadpole tea made from spring water and soaked Indian almond leaves. You should feed your tadpole & give it a water change twice a week. To perform these water changes, carefully dump out 1/4 of the water and remove any old uneaten food without dumping your tadpole. You can leave the bit of almond leaf in the cup with the tadpole until it starts disintegrating, at which point you'll want to replace it. Then, fill the cup up with fresh, treated/aged water until it is 3/4 full and add one pellet of food. It can take anywhere from 3-6 weeks from the time you receive your tadpole until it is ready to emerge from the water. This will depend largely on what temperature you keep it. You will know your tadpole is close when it has fully formed both its front and back legs and its adult coloration has started coming in.
