This nocturnal skink is named for the red/orange ring that surrounds its eye, not the eyeball itself.
- - Frequent handling not recommended, as it may cause stress
- - Nocturnal, but may be seen throughout the day, especially during feeding times
- - Prefer cool, moist environments with ample ground space and numerous hiding spots
- - Best kept singly, they may also tolerate mixed sex pairs. Pairs/groups of males only or females only should be avoided as they may become territorial or aggressive
