A well-balanced tortoise diet consists of dark green leafy vegetables, squash, carrots, etc.; fruit should be given sparingly as a treat. Also benefit from a tortoise commercial diet, but should be no more than 25%. High fiber and calcium. Low protein and fat is needed to ensure good digestive tract function.
Always wash your hands before and after handling your reptile and/or habitat contents to help prevent the potential spread of diseases.

Do you treat tortoises
My tortoise was not moving and kept head totally in and legs out
I've had my Russian tortoise for about 3 years. Unfortunately he got hit by a lawn mower about 2 years ago. The vet put a fiberglass she'll on it and he seemed to be fine. Now he does not move his eyes are shut most of the time and he is eating less and less. We have been soaking him in warm water and lightly misting him with water so he can open his eyes. We usually feed him mostly romaine lettuce, spinach and collard greens. He is very picky and prefers the romaine lettuce.
My parents found this beauty crossing the road. So they took it, what's the best for it? Just leave it in a safe place? What kind of tortoise is?
I have a tortoise (8months) and the last few days he has lost his appetite, become less active, struggles to open his eyes and keeps openning his mouth
My tortoise has what appears to be fluids (red so probably blood) in between carapace and plastron. Closest thing I could find online to what it looks like was someone posting about their tortoise falling of a hide log and sustaining trauma, but my enclosure doesn't have anything to fall off of. It doesn't look like shell rot that I've seen before. About 2 weeks prior it started rubbing it's head on it's legs and it's skin seemed dry so I feed it more romain lettuce and soaked it a bit more.
I have a tortoise from last 10 to 15 days not eating and shell of the tortoise becoming loose and upper shale became loose looks like Please suggest me what can i do ? Thank You
I have a Russian male tortoise, he is 5 years old, and his shell is starting to peel and crack. It looks like he has some sort of shell rot. What can I do to help treat it??? I have three tortoises in total and he's the only one with this going on.
I have a Russian tortoise that is going through brumation and I am not hibernating her what are things I should be doing not doing and be looking for as this is my first reptile
Now basically my tortoise is a two year old tortoise and basically today at around three I stepped on her by accident. She is fine though. I can find no soft spots or cracks and there are no other visual marks. After wards she just got up and went on exploring the garden, and she has since, eaten and drank and has fallen asleep. So I think she is fine but I just wanted a professional view. Thank you.
I have no idea what kind of animal this is. Is it a tortoise or a turtle? My grandmother rescued it from a golf course and now she isn't able to look after him (or her?). I need to know what kind of habitat this little guy needs, and what diet he needs, please and thank-you!
what are these spots on my new baby painted eastern turtle?
