Bad batch. Strong smell, discolored

I've bought this brand of millet for years and never had a problem... until 2 months ago. I purchased a large back and when I opened it, a strange "dark" smell came out of the bag. All of the sprays had a dark brown tone. I don't know if it was contaminated in some way, but I could not give it to my pets. Again, yesterday, I bought another large bag, thinking that it was from a different batch and AGAIN, strange, strong smell, discolored product. I kept my receipt and will be returning it this time.

No, I do not recommend this product.

WILD. BIRD. POOP. You heard me, it's accessible by wild birds where ever it is they grow this millet. My proof? How about opening a bag, pulling out a plump looking specimen just to have a nice white streak across it? I'm beyond disgusted by finding this as this leaves our pet birds at huge risk of disease and other infections (fungal, bacterial, etc). This product isn't safe for your bird if wild birds are having a go at it before it's sold to the consumer. Don't purchase, keep your bird healthy and find an alternative source of millet. This stuff screams cheap, it's mostly bald sprays or under developed seeds.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Is the Healthy Select spray mullets brand specific to Petco?? I can't find it anywhere else.

  1. I believe it is their brand

Is this processed with any peanut or treenuts?

  1. It’s literally just millet. Just the dried plant. Millet is a plant - not a mix of anything. Check the mfrs website to see if it’s packed  in a facility that also packs nuts.

Am I able to grow this on my own in the field for the array of birds that may be interested in eating this?

  1. Yes, you could certainly grow it on your own as long if you have a green thumb. You can do a quick Google search for "how to grow millet" for planting and harvesting directions.

How many pieces are in the 4oz pack

How many pieces of millet are there in the one pound package?

    1. About 20- 25

yes, what happend to the 24 pack of Healthy Seed millet for cockatiels?

    1. Keep looking, because I alway order the 24 pack, they're still there to order. If not call there (877) 738-6742 number and let them know what you're looking for they will give you the product number.

What happened to the 12 & 24 packages of millet spray ?

    1. I don't think they carry them anymore.

    How often?

    1. Give a whole one (remember they are not all seed, the seeds are on branches) at least twice a month. I give mine one about every 10 days.

how many sprays do you get in 1 order of healthy select spray millet for cockateils

    1. It says "pack of 6 sprays, pack of 12 sprays," and so on usually.

    Does Petco carry Red Millet

    1. Update to the answers: Yes, they now carry red millet. Just enter red millet in the search bar.
