Just received this new cage for my cockatiel nice roomie. Easy to assemble. Only complaint plastic perches. Horrible idea. I don't know what they were thinking manufacturer. Extremely hard to find replacement perches that a parrot can use in the cage.

I like some things about this cage: the large door opening, the height of the cage, and built in seed/mess catcher. I don’t like the attachment of the wire cage to the base, the closing mechanism, and the difficulty of cleaning the bottom of the cage. The wire (top portion of the cage) is only held on by four plastic slits/clips so the entire bottom of the cage can fall off when lifting the cage up by the handle on top of cage. I remedied this by threading twist ties through the plastic slits and the bottom of the wire cage. The cage bottom is secure but cleaning the seed/mess catcher is now more difficult. The slide that you use to close the cage front door is easy to open for my parakeet, yes, I said parakeet! Kirby quickly realized if he flipped the top of the slide while hanging upside down he could open the door. I used a bird toy attachment (small carabiner type) to secure the door along with the slide so it doesn’t open unless I want it opened. I currently have two of these cages (2 parakeets in one and a lovebird in the other). There is enough room for long hanging and foraging toys. I had this style/brand cage about 15 years ago for a lovebird and secured the plastic bottom to the wire top with zip ties but that made the cage impossible to take apart to clean. Eventually the zip ties broke through the plastic when the cage got knocked off the table and the cage had to be trashed. I went with the twist ties on the new cages in hopes that this will make the cage easier to take apart to clean. I use paper towel placed on top of the wire grate at the bottom of the cage instead of in the tray bc it’s so difficult to clean. Removing the dirty paper towel is easy with the large door opening. I hope this review helps.

It’s the best birdcage going. Well designed. It’s just what I wanted.
