Better than cage pads

No smell from the product and stumps smelly fluids from my small conure. Prefer them over the paper pads to put in the litter tray of the cage: the color of the litter masks the view of his constant fluids - a plus!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pretty Good

It works good for my 2 parakeets and 1 cockatiel. Not sure what I’m gonna do, because this is too expensive to use every time. I’ve been redoing the entire cage about every second week. Other than that I just scoop the soiled and trash it. Their area definitely smells better, or but more succinctly, it smells less bad. :-)

Yes, I recommend this product.

Please don't buy this

I bought this for my nine month old cockatiel she she liked it. About a week after I put it in she had a harder time breathing, (I thought it was just because cockatiels have natreal dander) so I thought nothing about it. Then the day after Easter she was lethargic and couldn't breath, so I rushed her to the vet and unfortunatly they couldn't save her. She died from a respiratory infection. This bedding is responsible for her death. She was my daughter's bird, she loved that bird so much and can't stop crying. I like PetCo, I trust them, I know they mean no harm but please stop selling the So Phresh Paper Bird Litter.

No, I do not recommend this product.

IT'S GREAT! A BIG INPROVEMENT OVER THE GRAVEL PAPER I USED DECADES AGO. I HAVENT' HAD BIRDS IN YEARS. I HAVE 2 PARAKEETS IN A COCKATIL RANCH CAGE. I WANTED THEM TO HAVE A LOT OF ROOM WHEN THEY WERE IN THE CATE. THE LITTER WORKS VERY WELL. AND, IT MAKES THE CAGE LOOK NICE. THAT GREEN BOTTOM. SO NICE.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Is 1 bag (20L) enough for my Congo African Grey's large cage tray? Also, is it safe to remove the grate and allow Speedo to walk in it, and do the parrots step on their poop? How often does the litter need to be changed? Lots of questions. Help!!!

Is mold a concern with this the way it is with corncob bedding?

    1. Hi AmyWh, We do not find any records of mold related to this item/sku. Thanks,

My parakeet cage has a pull out tray with a little wire grate to cover it... do I have to use the wire grate, or can I let them stand in it??? I change the paper litter every other day.

    1. So Phresh Paper litter has remarkably helped us with our Senegal Parrot. We use it for his cage and tree perch. The cage has a pull-out tray that is under a wire grate but pulls out separately, while the tree perch base is uncovered. In both cases, our bird does go down to pick up fallen toys or food and admittedly we switch the litter much less often than you do. Often times we just scoop out the poop. I suppose the wire grate does help in restricting wandering into droppings but also ends up having some poop stuck on it. If you want to avoid cleaning the grate each time then I do think you can do without it, given how often to change the litter, but again, it's a personal preference.

HI,  My birds recently laid a couple eggs, I am not prepared with nesting materials for them. Is this okay to use for their nesting?

    1. I use it all the time in my Bourke, English, and Cockatiel boxes. I love it and the birds appear to enjoy it also. They do not throw it out like the aspen chips, stays cleaner longer.

How much do you use in a 24X24 cage, and how far does 1 bag go as far as x of use?

    1. Hi Bren11, It depends on how thick you would like the layer of litter to be. A 1” layer across this habitat would take up approximately 9.5 liters of the litter. This would allow for 2 full uses from 1 20L bag. Using a thicker or thinner layer or spot cleaning with new litter in between changes will also impact how long a bag lasts. Thanks,

I just bought this Oder neutralizer for my birds, is it bad for them if they eat it ?

    1. My green cheek likes to chew on it and after a few months of her doing so she hasn't exibited any personality or health changes
