For a happy, healthy cockatiel companion, it is essential to house them in an appropriate habitat in regards to both dimensions and bar spacing to help prevent escape or injury. Providing your cockatiel with all of the essentials in their home will help make them feel comfortable in or out of their habitat.
Always invest in the largest habitat possible for your cockatiel to allow room for multiple perches and toys, as well as enough space for them to be able to flap their wings to exercise. A habitat with the dimensions of 24" W x 24" D x 30" H is the minimium recommended bird cage size for one cockatiel.
Perches of various diameters allow birds to exercise their feet, increasing dexterity, and help prevent arthritis, atrophy and pressure sores. Furnishing your cockatiel's habitat with perches that have different textures, such as a concrete perch, can also help keep your cockatiel's nails trimmed.
Cockatiel habitats that contain a play top provide an area outside of their habitat for your cockatiel to stretch its wings. Spending time outside of their habitat helps prevent boredom and undesired behaviors – including feather plucking and screeching. Play tops also allow you to interact and socialize with your bird, giving them an opportunity to play and helps attend to their mental and social needs.
It is beneficial to allow your cockatiel time daily outside of its habitat to play, exercise and interact with you. This helps keep them mentally stimulated and prevents boredom which can cause undesired behaviors.
The best cockatiel habitat is one that is large enough to allow them to exercise their wings without hitting the sides and provides room for a variety of toys and perches of differing diameters and textures. The bird cage should be a minimum of 24"W x 24"D x 30"H for one cockatiel with bars spaced no more than 1/2" apart. Habitats with a playtop provide the added benefit of allowing your cockatiel to spend time outside of its habitat playing and exercising, providing for its physical and mental needs.

I am looking to get a bigger cage for my 2 year old conure. Currently I’m in the market to buy one online that is advertised as a “solid metal cage” coated with “non-toxic hammertone paint” which included stainless steel dishes. I was just was just wondering if this would actually be a safe cage for a green cheek.
I am looking to get a bigger cage for my 2 year old conure. Currently I’m in the market to buy one online that is advertised as a “solid metal cage” coated with “non-toxic hammertone paint” which included stainless steel dishes. I was just wondering if this would actually be a safe cage for a green cheek. The seller is YaheeTech, which is based in Ontario California but customer pictures show a box with "Made in China." Mostly 5 stars, with lowest rating be 3 stars. Is non-toxic hammertone safe?

Can i put my female cockatiel in with a female cockatoo
My cockatiel is sneezing
I have a pair of cockatiels. One have broken wing and unable to fly. I think its a female due to larger foot size. She is unable to fly thats why male also dont practice flying now. How to be sure that they get required excersize? I feed them dry seeds, millets regularly and occassionally weeds from my terrace garden, spinach, coriander. Tried to feed them rice and fruits but they did not touched them. how can i make my male bird to fly or is it okay if he chooses not to fly? Cage is L4ft*H3ft
Do cockatiels have as big of personalities as bigger birds? Will they bond to me as much as a bigger bird? Will they just hangout with me?
My cockatiel aren't giving eggs
Where is the best place for me to put my bird cage?
-Cockatiel question- Should I give a cockatiel grit? Can you give me a list of fresh fruit and veggies to put in with the pellets and seeds for a daily diet? How much food should I give a cockatiel? Should I offer insects? Should I give two bowls of water? A small one to drink out of and a bigger one to bathe in? Should I give just tap water? Thanks! (I want to get a cockatiel and just want to know these question. I think I know everything else)
My cockatiel, Dawn, is currently trying to lay eggs (I think). All the signs are there so this'll be her first time. But I have a huge concern for my other cockatiel, Charlie. S/he (I say he, but unknown gender) has been a cagemate for a while now but I just found Dawn chasing Charlie around the cage, trying to beat him up. I have him in a temp cage I use for transport right now and he's really exhausted. I don't want him to be cooped up in the tiny cage. Is there anything I can do for him?
