My dog's nose skin peeled off. Should I be worried? Will it heal?

It is not uncommon for dogs to traumatize the top of their nose when they are in a kennel or cage and trying to get out. They usually rub a sore on the wire part of the cage. If the wound does not seem to be bothering her, you may be okay waiting to see her regular veterinarian. If she seems uncomfortable or the wound/rash are worsening or spreading, then it may be best to get her in somewhere sooner. If you start to notice that the wound looks infected (pus coming from it), I would bring Wendy in sooner because the worse it gets, the longer it will take to heal. If you have an E-collar (the lamp shade looking device) at home, I would put that on her in the meantime to prevent her from further damaging the area. Hope Wendy heals quickly!

He may have scraped it, but the skin doesn't look damaged right now, so it may be in the process of healing. It's also possible that it's simply losing the black pigment, which can happen normally. It doesn't appear irritated to me, but I would want to evaluate it in-person to be sure. I think it's fine to just monitor this area for now. I do not see any need for treatment, but you may consider taking him to the vet for an exam if the area appears more read, or develops any further changes that are concerning. That could be many things including ringworm (which humans can get), autoimmune condition or even cancer. I recommend to have Blaze examined by the veterinarian. Just like humans, non-healing lesions are worrisome. Better to play it safe. I hope this helps.

This is a difficult place to put anything on, because it will just be licked off. From what I'm seeing in the picture, it is a very minor abrasion, so I would not be to worried about it getting any worse. For now, it's best to just keep the wound clean by wiping it with warm water occasionally. This should be completely healed within the next two weeks.

Dry skin and loss of hair like that can sometimes happen if your dog likes to dig. Over time a callus can form that may cause a similar appearance. That said, with any new growth, it's always best to have it checked by your vet to rule out other causes such as skin or fungal infections, tumors/cancers, allergies, or parasites. Your vet can take a skin scraping of the affected area to be tested or looked at under a microscope. In the meantime, keeping the area clean and dry and keeping Beasley from rubbing it (or digging) may help reduce irritation.

I would have that checked out by a vet. This lesion is concerning for certain fungal and parasitic lesions that can get much worse if left too long. I also worry about skin cancer in white-faced dogs, so it will be good to have this ruled-out as a potential cause. No need to panic, just get it checked out in a day or two. For now, you can keep the wound clean by blotting it with a cloth soaked in warm water. Do this twice a day and avoid scrubbing.

If the abrasion was severe enough it may cause scarring of the tissue and lead to permanent depigmentation. If the abrasion is only superficial (which it appears to be in this pic) the pigmentation will likely return.
