My dog's nose is raw and peeling with a rash. Should I wait for the vet?

It looks like Wemwem probably rubbed her nose on something and if this is the case it should go back to normal. If it doesn’t seem improved in a week or two or if you notice scabs or more spots I’d recommend seeing your vet to make sure it’s not a skin infection or parasite.

Your dog may have rubbed it raw, under the couch or through the fence maybe? I suggest washing the area gently with antibacterial soap and water. Apply a warm washcloth 2-3 times a day for five minutes at a time to help keep it clean and draining. After washing and the compress, dry thoroughly and apply a dab of antibiotic ointment that **does NOT** contain hydrocortisone to the wound. Steroids will slow healing. An OTC triple antibiotic ointment will suffice. Rub it in well and don't leave any excess for your pet to lick off. If it does not show signs of healing or if your dog develops a fever, loses his appetite, starts vomiting or has diarrhea have him seen by your veterinarian right away. Potential cause may include allergies, infection, automimmune disease or even cancer. An e-collar (cone) may be used to prevent rubbing or pawing.

This could be due to an autoimmune disease but it is very hard to say just by looking at a photo. I suggest you have your dog examined by your vet as soon as you can get an appointment. It's not an emergency but sometime in the next couple days would be good.

That area looks very irritated and i'd be concerned there is a burn, severe irritation, or even a growth/tumor causing the hair loss and wounding of the skin. Since so much is exposed, it's a good idea to have it examined by your vet right away. Until you can get to the vet, keeping the area clean and dry and placing an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Sophie can help reduce irritation, however it should be seen in person.

This looks like the kind of scratches dogs gets from rubbing their nose under a fence or kennel - I wonder if that's a possibility for Luna. The issue does not look very serious at this point, so I think it would be fine to monitor her. If you're noticing the redness or scratches spreading or if she seems otherwise off, I would schedule a vet appointment. If her nose heals over the next few days, you don't need to do anything. Poor Mini. I'm not sure what her exact symptoms are if she isn't feeling well, but I do recommend a vet visit this weekend. Whenever a dog is sick, it's always important to take them into a vet as soon as possible. Best of luck.

Poor Dasani! I would leave it be for now and keep an eye on it. It doesn't look infected to me. You could try gently cleaning it with warm water and antiseptic soap, but if it starts to show signs of infection (swelling, warmth to the touch, pus), then I would take her into the vet to get it treated.
