Why is my dog's nose peeling off? Is it serious or should I see a vet?

From the photos it appears that the lesion is affecting both the mucosa of his nose and also his skin. This could be some sort of deep bacterial infection or perhaps something like ringworm (which humans can get). It is also very concerning however for an autoimmune condition. I recommend to have a Bosco visit his veterinarian with in the next day for an exam. The doctor may try treatment or testing for an infection. The doctor may also recommend a biopsy. Hello. Has your veterinarian done a biopsy on the nasal tissue? If not, until cancer is confirmed, this could be something else like an infection or autoimmune condition. Please discuss this with your veterinarian because there are things that might be appropriate to treat this condition based on what is found on the biopsy. It looks like Wemwem probably rubbed her nose on something and if this is the case it should go back to normal. If it doesn’t seem improved in a week or two or if you notice scabs or more spots I’d recommend seeing your vet to make sure it’s not a skin infection or parasite.

Any lesion/mass or blister on the nose that does not go away on its own within 1-2 weeks time should be looked at by your vet and samples taken of it to aid in identification of the mass. In general masses on the nose can either be an inflammatory reaction (granuloma), benign or malignant tumors. Lets hope that Kane's mass isn't something to be worried about.

There are many reasons for scabs on the nose. It can be related to an injury or autoimmune condition. It can also be related to a disease process within the nose. If this is not the case, a more serious condition such as an autoimmune disease should be considered. Discoid lupus usually appears as a cracked, bleeding and ulcerated nose. I recommend to have Bailey examined by the veterinarian. This could be something like ringworm (which humans can get) or it could indicate unilateral nasal discharge which can be indicative of a foreign object trapped in the nostril, a fungal infection or cancer.
