Why is the skin under my dog's nose red, irritated, and looks scraped?

This does not appear to be a bite of any form. Could be scratches. I don't see anything here that I would be overly concerned with and I don't think your vet would do anything at this stage either. If you want to try something I would recommend you use this wound spray on the nose. It won't hurt her if he licks it off but I suggest you try to minimize that because if he licks it off, it can't work. So, I suggest soaking a cotton ball with the spray and then wiping it on the nose. Dogs don't typically like being sprayed in the face; you don't want to scare him. Put it on and then distract him for a few minutes with a Kong filled with treats or something similar to get his mind off of it. It should dry rather quickly and you don't need to use a lot - just a very thin layer twice a day. That area looks very irritated and i'd be concerned there is a burn, severe irritation, or even a growth/tumor causing the hair loss and wounding of the skin. Since so much is exposed, it's a good idea to have it examined by your vet right away. Until you can get to the vet, keeping the area clean and dry and placing an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Sophie can help reduce irritation, however it should be seen in person.

It looks like Wemwem probably rubbed her nose on something and if this is the case it should go back to normal. If it doesn’t seem improved in a week or two or if you notice scabs or more spots I’d recommend seeing your vet to make sure it’s not a skin infection or parasite.

What I'm seeing in the pictures looks normal, so I would recommend just keeping an eye on it for now. Color changes can happen as dogs reach maturity. However if the itching gets worse, I would recommend taking him to his vet for evaluation.

Poor pup. It looks like an abrasion from this photo, commonly seen when dogs rub their noses excessively. This can happen with digging or being crated. I would monitor it but it does not appear to need intervention at this time.

As long as this area is not painful and is not bothering your dog, you can monitor her at home for the weekend. However, if the area is sore or is bothering your dog, you should take her to your local vets tomorrow.

I agree with your vet. I would not be too concerned at this time. It is not uncommon for dogs to lose pigment to the nasal area without it being a significant problem. It could be from an injury and if it is, the nasal planum does not always go back to normal color - it may stay that way. If it gets worse, meaning the discolored area gets larger or if it starts to get crusty, then I would recommend some testing like a biopsy of the tissue. I hope this helps.
