Can my 15-week-old kittens safely eat small amounts of cooked beef?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Raw beef is missing other key vitamins and minerals that kittens need to develop so I do not recommend feeding that alone. I would try canned kitten food and put it on a plate so she can stand in it and eat it. If she goes 24 hours without eating, I would take her to a vet to make sure there are no physical problems causing her not to eat a balanced diet. Good luck and kisses to Reena!

Feeding meat by itself lacks a large amount of essential vitamins, minerals, and balance of nutrients that cats need (especially kittens) and require every day. I would stick to the cat food formulations instead and a tiny bit of meat can be given as a treat every so often.

You should consider any "human food" to be a treat for your pet, and give small amounts every once in a while. Treats should only make up 10% or less of your pet's overall diet. I highly recommend a balanced puppy food (Purina puppy chow for example) as her main source of nutrition while she transitions from nursing and onwards. She can have small pieces of chicken as treats or for training.

It would ideally best to give good quality cat food for kittens as the diet would be more balanced and nutritionally complete to match all his needs. Cow milk is not necessary (even diluted) and can cause diarrhoea. Yes, cooked chicken is fine but Bella needs to be eating a commercial cat food. Cats have specific nutritional needs and a homemade diet is always LACKING in proper nutrition. I recommend to feed Bella Royal Canin Kitten food or Purina ProPlan Kitten food. These are balanced diets that contains all the amino acids, vitamins, minerals, fat, fiber and DHA that she needs to develop normally. I hope this helps.

It is not ideal to feed your pets people food like bread however a small amount should be ok and should not harm your cat. If you do decide to give people food as treats, do so in only small amounts. Use foods that are bland and easily digestible (like a small piece of bread) and have low calories. One of the biggest problems with feeding people food to pets is that it can cause them to become overweight. It can also make them picky eaters in the future.
