when i was little my grandfather had a koi "patio pond" in a metal stock trough. I was wondering if it would be reasonable to do the same in a rubber one?what considerations would you consider?

Confirm it is made from a non toxic compound, such as polyethylene. Do not overstock it with fish. Provide adequate filtration and monitor water chemistry regularly. New ponds, just like new tanks, need to be properly cycled before fish are added.

Good morning, How do I use the acclimation guide for pond fish? If i quarantine them for 2 weeks how do I introduce them to the actual pond they will live in? Thank you

The majority of the acclimation guide is intended for introducing animals recently purchased online into a quarantine environment that have been inside a dark box for 24+ hours and the water quality is most likely degraded from waste. Hopefully you followed these steps before introducing your pond animals into their quarantine environment. After the quarantine period the acclimation from this environment should be relatively easy and quick – given the water parameters in the quarantine environment are ideal and similar to your pond. The best way to move the fish would be to put them in a 5 gal. bucket and float the bucket in the pond for at least 30 minutes so the temperature in the bucket can gradually reach the same temperature as the pond. Make sure you do this in a shady spot of the pond or during a time period when the bucket will not be in the sun. I have my 1-year-old goldfish in a 5-gallon tank. I do frequent water changes and he has a filer and an air bubble thing. I plan on taking him to my grandfather's outdoor koi/goldfish pond when he outgrows his tank. His fish are really big.Is it saf

Goldfish and Koi are generally considered to be docile fish. I would not expect Porkchop to have any issues moving into his new pond. Make sure to transfer him when the weather is warmer and make sure that his bag used for the transfer sits in the pond for at least 30 minutes to allow him to acclimate to the temperature. Make sure there’s enough air in the bag as well to keep it floating. Lastly, when your room is hot make sure to check the thermometer on his fish tank frequently. Goldfish are considered cold water fish but will live in most temperatures. With a 5 gallon tank, I do not anticipate his water will be very affected by the ambient temperature. If you do happen to notice this, put some dechlorinator in his water and a couple ice cubes but I suspect this will not be necessary.
