Description

Please note that the product information displayed is provided by manufacturers, suppliers and other third parties and is not independently verified by Petco.

Aqua Safe is a pond water conditioner and DE chlorinator that's essential for all pond keepers. Standard tap water contains chemicals and metals that can be harmful to pond fish. Tetra Pond Aqua Safe quickly eliminates chlorine and chloramines and binds and detoxifies heavy metals. It converts standard water into "pond water" so fish and plants can flourish. Tetra Pond Aqua Safe contains iodide for more vitality and readiness to spawn. This liquid formula also provides a colloid coating to protect sensitive fish gills and membranes. For outdoor ornamental ponds only. For new ponds or whenever adding tap water, use 10 mL for every 50 gallons of tap water, or use 1/4 cup for every 300 gallons of tap water. To calculate pond gallons, use the following formulas: length in feet x width in feet x average depth in feet = cubic feet; cubic feet x 7.5 = pond gallons. If chlorine levels in your tap water are high enough that you can smell the chlorine, use up to double the standard dosage.

  • - Makes tap water safe: Pond water conditioner and DE chlorinator.
  • - Removes harmful substances: Takes out chlorine and chloramines and binds and detoxifies heavy metals that can be found in municipal water supplies.
  • - Improves vitality: Contains iodide for more vitality and readiness to spawn.
  • - Protective coating: Liquid formula provides a colloid coating to protect sensitive fish gills and membranes.
  • - For outdoor ornamental ponds: Use in new ponds or whenever adding tap water.

Tetra AquaSafe only product we trust

We've had a small (800 gallon) outdoor Koi pond for over 20 years. We always use a water conditioner to remove chlorine and heavy metals when topping off the water or water changes . Several years ago our community began using chloramine which is chlorine bonded to ammonia and difficult for some water treatment products to remove.. We like Tetra products and noted while many other brands say "reduces chlorine and chloramine" only Tetra AquaSafe says, REMOVES chlorine and chloramine. Since then, that's the only product we've used and have never lost a fish after top offs or partial water changes. After years of buying the 16.9 oz bottle we decided to buy a gallon for substantial savings. As always at DrsF&S, excellent price and fast delivery.

Yes, I recommend this product.

We have been using AquaSafe for many years. We would not be able to have fish in our pond because of all the chemicals used by our local water company. It only takes a small amount to neutralize the city water and our fish are thriving.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I've used this product for over 15 years and it's never let me down. It's a must have anytime and just before new water is added to the pond from a chlorinated source. It's easy to add and works immediately. It has a reasonable shelf life, so I save money buying large quantity.

Yes, I recommend this product.

is this suitable for above ground pool for ducks

  1. We have not done any research on using this product for duck ponds. It is intended for fish ponds.

is this safe to use on aquarium fish, both fresh and saltwater

  1. This is a formula designed for freshwater only, and specifically ponds, which are a bit different from aquariums. However, it can be used in freshwater aquariums as long as you work the math correctly, but we do not recommend it in marine aquariums. BREX

Aside from doing a water change is there anything else I should be adding to the pond to get it ready for winter? The waterfall runs all winter and I

  1. When changing the water be sure to add the required amount of AquaSafe all year round. Also, continue to run the waterfall to keep your pond from freezing over completely. We keep our pump going all year to circulate the water because the fish need oxygen to live.
