Make sure to replace every pond season - the bulb may continue to glow, but its effectiveness in killing algae diminishes. Convenient viewing window in our Pond Green Free UV Clarifier makes it easy to ensure the bulb is working. Replacement bulbs are available in four sizes: 5 watts for ponds up to 660 gallons; 9 watts for up to 1,800 gallons; 18 watts for up to 4,400 gallons; and 36 watts for up to 8,800 gallons. Tetra Pond Green Free UV Clarifier (not included) works to keep your pond clean, clear, and free of unsightly green algae. These dependable clarifiers use ultra violet light to destroy suspended green algae. As algae are pumped into the clarifier, they are exposed to ultra violet light that destroys the reproductive ability of single-celled algae. The dead algae are then pumped out of the Pond Green Free UV Clarifier, where they clump and are removed by your pond's filtration system. Removes heavy algae blooms (usually within 8 days) and keeps the pond algae-free long-term.

Questions
Can a Tetra Pond UV clarifier be used as an aquarium sterilizer by reducing the flow rate to 250 gal/hr?
- The Staff answer that it might kill too much beneficial bacteria was not helpful because according to the S&F Aquarium Sterilizer chart an 18w aquarium sterilizer will kill algae and bacteria with a flow rate of 300 gal/hr and parasites at a flow rate of 100 gal/hr. My concern was that it might not work (kill enough bacteria) as a sterilizer even if the flow rate was reduced to 250 gal/hr if the volume of the chamber was bigger to accommodate the recommended flow rate of 2,000 gal/hr for pond clarification and a percentage of the water I am trying to sterilize passes through the chamber too far away from the bulb.

Will this work for algae on rocks?
- I wish I could tell you, my water stays very clear but I do get a small thin layer of algae on the lining & varied shells in the pond. My pond is only about 750 gallon, without the UV I used to have a real problem with algae in hot weather but since I installed my first UV all of that has ended totally. I also add a Algae liquid clarifier but don't really see a difference..

Tetra UV for ponds
- I'm using the UVC 9 for 1000 gallons. Works great! I would probably choose the UVC 18 for your size pond. The UVC should be placed before the external filter. Hope this helps!

i have a .25 arce lake averge depth 8ft, guessing 325000 gallons , can i treat it with uv light if so what kind and cost , and upkeep , how long does

Installing a 36 watt UV...Tetra...; have a Laguna pressure filter/uv 3200.
- Answering my own question!!!! Got the UV today, read instructions and specs.....IT is a BIG workhorse!! NO WAY the pump for the Laguna 3200 will meet "targeted" flow recommendation....4400 gph...+/- 10%....Max flow for Laguna 3200 filter is about 2200 gph with minimum clean filter pressure drop which builds with filter dirtyness....thus...I'm.gunna use my waterfall pump which is close to 3800 gph....up to bio-ball "filter/treatment" waterfall as illustrated in the hook-up instructions and let the Laguna filter clean up the mess. Anticipating SEEING MY FISH in a week or so or less!!!

have a 100 gallon water garden - how easy is the tetra pond UV clarifier to hook up? What does it hook up to and do I need any special equipment.
- They are simple to set up but they do take up a bit of space and need to run 24/7. My units are not submersible so you would need to have a tube come from your pump to the UV unit first and then another tube go from it to either the filter or fountain. These UV units work best if all the water has to flow through them.

What kind of filtration does the uv canister have to go through. Also I have a 15,000 Gal. Pond. Would the 36 and 18 be enough.

- Thank you for your question. We contacted the manufacturer and they said: the maximum pressure is 7 psig (pounds per square inch (gauge)). In water column height that is about 16 feet or 193 inches.

I have recently used medication in my 50 gal freshwater fish tank with one 22 year old comet goldfish in it . the meds cured my fish but must have killed my beneficial Bacteria as now my established tank has been going through another nitrogen cycle. It's been four weeks now the ammonia us back to zero so is nitrite zero BUT my nitrates are now spiked about 80 and the water is cloudy. Did 2 partial water changes over the last 8 days. Will a UV sterilizer help ?? Please advise. Thanks Lina
Is it safe to buy a UV Sterilizer Green killer filter for my turtles? The water gets dirty really fast and I've pretty much tried everything, but the algae keeps growing fast. The problem is that I've seen a lot of negative reviews on that filter, saying that it got their fish killed. Now, I've done some research on that and found out that that UV lights could damage both animals and humans, however the very few reviews that were written by turtle owners were positive. Is it totally safe?

I was wondering if there are any alternatives for my pet rabbit to get sunlight or UV light without bringing her outside. Trying to treat betta for Popeye otherwise healthy happy and active. Moved from five to three gallon filtered heated tanks. Feed freeze dried blood worms, daphnia and bug bites by fluval. Also am changing some if not all water every few days. Treated with kanaplex several doses no real improvement. Switzed to metroplex in water treatment as I don't know how food treatment works or how to dose started four doses two days apart and there is some improvement to the eyes. Med is miconidazole.
