Description

TetraPond GreenFree UV Clarifier works to keep your pond clean, clear, and free of unsightly green algae. These dependable clarifiers use ultraviolet light to destroy suspended green algae. As algae are pumped into the clarifier, they are exposed to ultraviolet light that destroys the reproductive ability of single-celled algae. The dead algae are then pumped out of the TetraPond GreenFree UV Clarifier, where they clump and are removed by your pond's filtration system. Removes heavy algae blooms (usually within 8 days) and keeps the pond algae-free long-term.

  • - UV CLARIFYING LIGHT: Ultraviolet clarifier controls heavy algae blooms in ponds and water gardens and keeps water clean and green-free
  • - HIGH-EFFICIENCY UV BULB: Includes UV bulb for up to 11 months of continuous operation
  • - REFLECTIVE SURFACE: Includes reflective stainless-steel insert that increases UV exposure
  • - 4 AVAILABLE SIZES: For ponds up to 660 gallons, up to 1,800 gallons, up to 4,400 gallons and up to 8,800 gallons

U V filter 9 watt

Works great. FYI used thread tape on threaded fittings. I say this because I see people complaining about leaks. I myself haven't had any. Algae is gone in a couple of days. Crystal clear!

Worthless

Just set this filter up. Surprised to see lots of leaks. The rubber seals are in place after a double check. On the filter itself where there are the two connections, I have em as tight as they go and a fair amounts of drips are coming where it meets the body. Tough as well to get a good seal around the hose connections since there is only a little bite per size of hose.. Hopefully this thing actually cleans as I am not impressed with the design.. One month in: Horrible algae growth. Draining pond now. Realized bulb never worked. Out of return window. Worthless.

Thank you for your review. This is certainly disappointing and extremely unusual for one of our UV lights. So that we can help you, please email our team at petsupport@spectrumbrands.com.

UVC-18

Bought a UVC-18 for our 2,839 gallon pond about a month ago. Seems to be working fine; cleared up our water in about three days and wish I had done so a year ago. Nice to be able to see the fish and bottom of pond. Only thing it took a bit of working on our part to find the right hose and connect UV filter into our plumbing for the pond.

UVC-36 greenfree ultrviolet clarifier not good

two pond family

Just received our second ultraviolet clarifier and found out the changes made from the 2009 model we have been using created some problems that the 800 number people we called for advise at tetra cold not even give a response for a possible solution. The new unit changed the maximum diameter size for intake and exit hoses from 1 5/8" to 1 1/4". Spent 3 hours going to plumbing supply houses, hardware stores and big box stores to try to find a way to adapt our 1/5/8" hoses we have on our pond to the 1 1/4" maximum now provided on the newer model. Came home and called the 800 number for advise and they said "things change" and that was it. I would think they would have worked out a solution to prevent having to change out our supply and exit hoses for both our ponds but no only the response "things change". Not an acceptable response for a help line.

Consumer Services
We apologize that you had this experience with our company! The older version of our UV lights does not take 1-5/8" tubing, it uses 1.5" tubing. A PVC reducer that goes from 1.5" to 1.25" and a foot or two of new tubing will connect the new unit to the old tubing. We will review your case and reach out to you directly in order to assist you. At Tetra, we strive to continuously innovate and improve our products to make the customer's experience with their pond an easier, more enjoyable one. Again, our apologies.

works great

We have had our pond since 2002 and this works great except when someone left it out all winter (Bflo NY) and it cracked. So we are replacing it with another UCV 18 and our fish will enjoy another wonderful summer. I do also use the barley bales since our pond does get full sun for a large part of the day. Just wish there was a way to stop the hair algae from growing

Great Product and Great Service

I bought this product because the filter I had with the UV light built in failed on me. The filter still works great its just the light unit no longer works, after only 3 years. I didn't want to get rid of the filter so I purchased the UVC-18 Clarifier. I had only just set it up and realized there was no Purple Light indicating that the bulb was working. I waited till evening to check incase it was a dim display or something. Still no light. The next day I unhooked it checked to make sure it was all put together and the bulb was properly installed, it was. I called the 1-800 help line and got to speak to a Tech. It appears the safety stitch was not turning the light on. The Tech told me how to fix it and it worked. Now it is working great. Hopefully it will only take a few days to get my Pond back to crystal clear status. I enjoy the sturdy construction of this unit. It feels like it will last and no cheap plastic at all. Only time will tell. I have a few other products from Tetra and all are working great. I have a Tetra pump it is still going strong even after 5 years!

Questions

1 - 4 of 4 Questions

My filter takes 1/2 inch tubing and the UV clarifier takes 3/4 inch tubing. I am using an adapter but water is not flowing from the filter to the uv clarifier. I’ve tried everything. There are no leaks and my filter is big enough to support this.

  1. We would need more information such as what size pump is operating the filter and the UV light. How many gph? How many feet of tubing and distance from pump to filter to UV? Email our team at petsupport@spectrumbrands.com.

I'm having issues with the uv light in the tetra pond green fee water clarifier...i seen in another post about a "safety stitch" to help get the uv bulb going. Can anyone help with this?

  1. It will not turn on if the bulb is not completely installed with the endcap screwed on all the way. There is a safety switch that will prevent it from turning on. For more help, email petsupport@spectrumbrands.com.

is the tetra 900 gph uv clarifier (sku#1443887) submersible

  1. No, not of the uv lights are submersible. BREX

Does this UV light come with a pump? What kind of pump is used for this how manyu gallons per hour?

  1. Replacement bulbs are between $10-$30, they are a very common style that you can find just about anywhere. One bulb generally runs 6-9 months of constant use. They don't burn out then, but it's a good time to replace them as they start to weaken. The fixture is meant to be installed inline with a canister filter. It cannot be submerged.
