Puppy threw up after eating grass. Is it normal for a young puppy?

There could be many things that are causing this in Loki. Less likely a foreign body especially since he bounces back right after vomiting. It can be viral related or just a gastrointestinal upset. We always are concerned about Parvo in an unvaccinated puppy since he is only 9 weeks but this is less likely if he is energetic and has no diarrhea. He can always have intestinal parasites especially in a young puppy. I would recommend a stool check, deworming, a bland diet and an antacid as long as everything else is ok. No one exactly knows the reason why dogs eat grass, but I would try to prevent him from eating it as best as you can. I would say if you prevent Freckles from eating grass and he still is vomiting, then I would recommend Freckles see his veterinarian for an evaluation and exam. I hope this helps!

Hopefully, it is just dietary indiscretion but I am always concerned for intestinal obstruction in young dogs with projectile vomiting. If the vomiting continues follow up with your veterinarian to discuss abdominal x-rays.

If this is a new thing then it may be that Izzy does have an upset stomach. If Izzy has always done this I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it is new then I would monitor and if any other symptoms develop bring Izzy to a veterinarian. This could be secondary to gastrointestinal upset from many possible reasons such as dietary indiscretion or foreign body ingestion, among many other reasons. If he is otherwise doing well, it is likely to be something mild like dietary indiscretion causing him to have an upset stomach. Keep a close eye on him and make sure he is drinking water. If he does not look improved by tomorrow or gets worse, have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Good luck!

If Jordy continues to vomit, starts dry heaving, or is extremely lethargic, I would recommend taking him to an emergency clinic tonight or first thing in the morning. If he is normal the rest of the night, give him a half his normal breakfast and monitor for more vomiting. If he does continue to vomit, he'll need to go to vet. Common causes of vomiting in puppies include foreign bodies, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, some metabolic disorders, and mild gastroenteritis if unknown origin. If he does end up needing to go to the vet, they will likely take some x-rays and maybe do a baseline blood work, and then treat him symptomatically if they are do not find a specific. It’s possible that something on the walk caused Michi’s stomach upset: there are many, many potential causes of vomiting in dogs. I don’t necessarily consider one episode of vomiting an urgent problem, but if the vomiting continues, if Michi’s appetite is significantly decreased for 24 hours or more, or if he develops diarrhea then you should head to a vet.
