My puppy is recovering from parvo. Are yellow specks in his poop normal?

Yellow specks can be worm eggs or can be related to something he may have eaten but not digested. If his stool was not checked for worms due to the diarrhea, I recommend to have it checked for parasites. Best of luck

His poop is bright yellow b/c of his current diet (just rice and cottage cheese). He should have some protein in there, so I would suggest adding chicken or ground turkey. Also as long as he is not straining to poop, there is no cause for concern for the fewer stools, especially since he isn't eating anything with much substance. As long as he is acting normal, there is no major cause for concern here. Slowly transition him back to his normal diet once your vet says he is good to do so, and his stools should return to normal. If Choko is recovering from parvo, you shouldn't see any blood in the feces, and it should resemble normal feces in color and texture. You would also see the dog eating, drinking, and not vomiting as well as having more energy.

Definitely not something that sounds remotely urgent. Continue to monitor for any associated gastrointestinal signs like vomiting or diarrhea, If you feel the white specks you see are worms, consider bringing a fecal sample into your vet or deworming at home with something over the counter and broad spectrum like Panacur. As long as Karter is acting normally, not exhibiting anything I have mentioned, and is not seeming to lose weight, continue to monitor the situation closely for any other symptoms.

Poor Scooter. I am so glad that she is doing better. All the signs you describe seems like she is improving. The tarry black stool looks like either digested blood or it could be a side effect of pepto if you gave her any of that. If she is eating and drinking and starting to become more active then I think she is on the mends! With her being so small, you could continue the pedialyte for a few more days until you are confident that she is feeling 100% better.

The good news is that these yellow dots don't look like any intestinal parasite that's visible with the naked eye.
