My sick puppy's yellow, infrequent poop on bland diet: Normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 7 days old | 50 lbs

My puppy is on a rice and cottage cheese diet only because he’s on diarrhea and infection medication. Is normal if he barely poops and is yellow like bright yellow. I’m worry. He has lots of energy and acts normal. After his shot he got “sick” that’s why he’s on medicine. He eats and drinks plenty of water.

His poop is bright yellow b/c of his current diet (just rice and cottage cheese). He should have some protein in there, so I would suggest adding chicken or ground turkey. Also as long as he is not straining to poop, there is no cause for concern for the fewer stools, especially since he isn't eating anything with much substance. As long as he is acting normal, there is no major cause for concern here.
Slowly transition him back to his normal diet once your vet says he is good to do so, and his stools should return to normal.

    You if she isn't acting sick and is eating well you can try a very bland diet with boiled chicken and rice. If it doesn't improve, or if she isn't eating well or vomiting then I recommend she be seen by your veterinarian for other diagnostics and recommended therapies. I help she improves soon!

Loose mucosy stools can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have your pup evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They may choose to check for parasites and to start medications depending on the results.     It could just be that Caeser is experiencing some GI upset, and a bland meal of boiled rice and chicken may help to settle his stomach if it's only happened once. If the problem persists, or you suspect he is having issues such as liver problems, a vet visit and bloodwork can help figure out the cause of the loose stool.

Hi and thanks for your request. This may be still due to partial gastrointestinal upset, meaning that the gastrointestinal system is still recovering. I would recommend to continue to feed Milo with this diet until feces are not back to normal colour and consistency. If the signs last more than a week time a check up at your local vet will be required.

My dog has bright yellow poop and won't eat. What should I do?
Based on the fact that Teddy is acting normal, there may not be anything serious going on. I would recommend to have his stool checked for parasites including Giardia. These are easy tests and would account for the change in his stool character. If these tests are negative, you may choose to do nothing else except monitor him. Some parasites can be spread to people so it is worthwhile to have it checked out. I hope this answers your question!

Did anyone feed him anything other than his puppy food? If so he may have an upset stomach. He can also have one if he has intestinal parasites or a virus. My 4-week-old Pomeranian puppy has yellow poop. Should I worry?
That is not a problem but could be an early sign of diarrhoea. As a first approach I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. This is likely just secondary to the milk replacement you are feeding him. Just keep a close eye on him and make sure he is eating well, continuing to have bowel movements and urinating. Also, make sure you are feeding him every 3 hours. I hope this helps and good luck!

I would recommend to start a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions for the next 3 days. Then gradually go back to normal diet through the following week. If the signs persist or if you notice vomiting, inappetence or lethargy a check up at your local veterinarian would be needed.
