My puppy's poop has tiny yellow spots after diarrhea, what is it?

I think his stool looks pretty good. I would not worry about the color. The yellow specks could just be undigested food. Don't worry about it too much right now. Just keep an eye on the stools and if these yellow specks continue you may want to have your vet check the stool for parasites.

The good news is that these yellow dots don't look like any intestinal parasite that's visible with the naked eye. My best guess is that your dog recently ate something relatively fibrous, like plant material, rice, or another vegetable that passed through the stool reasonably unchanged. As long as your dog isn't experiencing any changes in their appetite or energy level, or any vomiting, then I don't see any cause for concern. If this continues, you can always ask your vet to submit a stool sample to a reference lab for further evaluation.

If the white specks in his poo look like grains of rice or sesame seeds then it is likely your dog has tape worm. ask your vet to treat your puppy for the parasites he diagnosed via a fecal sample (if he has not done a fecal sample, take some fresh poop to your vet for a fecal exam). You may also want to start with flea prevention as tape worm is transmitted by fleas.

Hi there Persistent diarrhea is one thing we take pretty seriously in our pets. It would be helpful to know if Winnie has been dewormed lately and if she has been vaccinated. Your vet will likely need to do a fecal exam to make sure what you are describing isn't parasites, first and foremost. Poor Chaw! Unfortunately it's impossible to know the cause of the diarrhea by looks alone. The diarrhea could be due to many conditions including a change in diet, bacterial over growth, parasites or other even parvovirus. Chaw is very small and I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian today. Small puppies can become very sick very fast and so need aggressive, early intervention. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check her for parasites and bacterial over growth. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A good diet in general is Royal Canin. It is low residue and highly digestible. It does look like this could be undigested rice. If you are giving her a broad-spectrum dewormer that kills tapeworms on a regular schedule, then it should be keeping her free of those. If you want to be sure that she is free of parasites or if these spots in her stool continue, I would recommend having a fecal exam done. I would recommend a vet check up for Duke. He could have intestinal parasites such as hookworms, coccidia or giardia. None of these can be seen in the stool. The vet will likely get a stool sample to check for parasites or eggs under the microscope. Good luck and hope he's better soon.
