My puppy's cast is rubbing. Should I take her to the vet now?

The swelling is very bad. You are correct to be concerned. I suggest you get him back to the vet ASAP to have the bandage removed and replaced. He is a lot of pain for sure which is why he is trying to bite. The fracture is unstable at this stage so you can't just take the bandage off and leave it like that. The vet should put on a full length cast that incorporates the foot. If you don't get this treated immediately the blood/nerve supply may end up being compromised to the foot. This is an emergency.

Yes, it looks slightly inflamed but it should be absolutely fine. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any). If signs do not resolve in the next 48 hours a check up would be required as antibiotic ointment may be needed.

If she isn't feeling well and just laying on you then I would take her in. If she is comfortable and otherwise ok you can wait until tomorrow but if she won't walk, very lethargic or seems painful I would take her now. If he needs a bandage then the vet can place one so that his foot doesn't swell. They may not want to do this as bandaging can cause moisture build up. You will need them to make that determination. Poor Cici! No, it's not normal that she shakes a lot when she puts pressure on her leg, and that tells me she is in pain. It's also concerning that the area is quite red. Given she has had a problem with the leg since January and she's still having problems with it, I do think taking her into an ER vet now is the best option. Best of luck!

I am sorry to hear about Kona! I would check the toenails for wounds or pain, check between the toes on the underside, looking for any wounds. Reasons to see the vet today would include: swelling/bruising, pain that causes her to be unable to be comfortable at rest, inability to bear any weight on the leg. If she shows these signs I would have her seen ASAP. Otherwise, you can try confinging/limiting her activity (outside only on a leash to potty, no rough housing/running) for another day to see if she improves. If she is not improving with rest or becomes worse then a visit to the vet is needed.

Poor Baby! If you believe her leg is broken than you should restrict her activity and keep her quiet until she can be seen by a vet. As for the bleeding, she may have some internal injuries from whatever cause her leg injury. Hopefully, with rest the bleeding will stop. Your vet can do a complete physical examination to determine the extent of her injuries and take xrays, if needed, to determine the best way to treat. If there is an emergency vet open than it would be a good idea to have her seen right away, especially if she seems to be in a lot if pain.
