My puppy's cast is rubbing. Should I take her to the vet now?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Hi, my puppy broke her front wrist and needed surgery we are now 2 weeks into recovery and I wasn’t just looking at the top of her arm and she looks like she has a cast sore, I have an appointment tomorrow morning should I wait or go now since they’re open 24 hrs.

Hello, sorry to hear about your pup. If there is swelling, her toes (if uncovered) feel cold, if the bandage is wet, if your puppy cannot stop bothering at the bandage than she should be seen tonight. If it seems like her skin is rubbing against the bandage but her toes are still pink and warm, the bandage is not wet, and she is using her leg comfortably, then you can wait until tomorrow.

However, any doubt, then you should have her evaluated tonight over tomorrow. Hope this helps and best of luck.
