My dog has white eye discharge. Is it allergies from playing in grass?

Poor girl. White discharge from the eyes can indicate either a dry eye conditon or the beginning of an allergic conjunctivitis (allergies causing inflammation of the eyes). If she is also sneezing and rubbing her eyes from irritation, then chances are she has allergic conjunctivitis. You can discuss with your vet about trying some over the counter or vet prescribed antihistamine medication to try and help with this. Your vet may want to examine her first just to make sure we are on the right track with her diagnosis and treatment recommendations. In the meantime I would continue to apply warm compresses on her eyelids (while holding them closed) and Henry cleansing the discharge as needed to prevent irritation around her eyes. The redness and discharge that you are seeing in Tea's eye could be due to a corneal ulcer/abrasion or underlying allergies. However, I would expect allergy issues to affect both eyes. At this point, I would recommend taking Tea to her vet for an exam and to have her eyes assessed for the presence of a corneal ulcer so that any issue can be treated appropriately. I don't know which eye drops you have been using at this point, so I can't speak to the efficacy or safety of this medication. Always speak with Tea's vet before starting any medication, particularly eye medications. Some eye medications can make issues worse when used incorrectly. I hope that all goes well!

Hello. Other than cleaning the discharge as it appears each day with a little warm water, you can flush the eyes with artificial tears to remove any allergens that may be affecting the cornea. This is not a cure, so if the discharge persists, worsens, or Iker shows any signs of pain or discomfort in his eyes, redness or conjunctival swelling, please see your veterinarian at your earliest convenience. Iker may have mild allergies, but he may also be developing conjunctivitis so do not let it go on too long without following up with your veterinarian. Hello, sorry to hear about Gracie. It could be indeed from her allergies, however, this could also be that she had tear staining in the area which we can see with longer hair breed dogs. If she is not scratching at the area now, you can clean it with a damp cotton ball and make sure you avoid cleaning her eyes directly. Look for any signs of sneezing, persistent eye or nasal discharge, squinting, or scratching at her face. If you note any of these then have her evaluated by your veterinarian then. Alternatively, these could be signs that her tear ducts are impacted with debris and may need to be flushed out. Hope this helps and best of luck.

If your pet Batman has eye discharge that is yellow/green then that is a sign of conjunctivitis which can be caused by an environmental allergy but it is more likely caused by a scratch/ulcer on the eye itself and not allergy related at all. I would recommend taking him in to your vet to get the eye examined. He will likely need to be placed on a topical eye antibiotic ointment to get this to heal well. Ouch! Poor Archie. If Archie is squinting, rubbing, or having redness in the affected eye, he should be seen by a vet today. These signs can indicate a corneal ulcer or abrasion as a result of the trauma. However, if he does not seem bothered by the eye and the discharge is improving, you can continue monitoring it for changes through the weekend. In the meantime, out an Elizabethan collar or cone on Archie to prevent any further damage. Avoid putting anything in the eye, but you can use warm water to clean the discharge from under his eye.
