Dog sprayed with bug spray, washed, now calmer. Does she need a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 7 months old | 28 lbs

My 5 year old son sprayed our dog with cutter bug spray, I noticed she was acting "excitful and was whining" so I imdeatly took her into the bathroom and washed her throughly like the article instructed to do so. She seems to be calmer and is now laying down, should I seek medical attention? Thanks!

You did the absolute right thing by bathing Luna as quickly as you did! Since she is no longer showing any symptoms she should be fine. Keep a close eye on her for the rest of the day in case anything changes. Things to look out for are itchy/red/inflamed skin and any change in her breathing pattern (in case she breathed in any of the spray). If she is still acting normal over the next few hours you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If you do notice any of these symptoms you should bring Luna in to the vet to be checked out.

For that reason, Chigger may be just fine. I would recommend that you watch him closely and if he does show symptoms such as decreased appetite, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea and/or discomfort have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Otherwise, he is likely going to be ok. Best of luck!

My cat licked DEET bug spray. Why is she drowsy? Should I be worried?

Since it was several hours after applying the bug spray I think Willow will be just fine. If the bug spray was going to affect her she would have to ingest a large amount. Just keep an eye on her for now and if she is still acting abnormal after 24 hours or her symptoms change and become more severe then take her to the vet.

Hello. You should immediately wash your puppy to remove as much of the spray as possible. Use warm water and dish soap. Avoid getting soap in his eyes and water in his ears. My dog inhaled bug spray and had a sneezing fit. What should I do?

That is definitely concerning. The first thing to do is call the manufacturer of the spray. They will know any potential for toxicity. Make sure he stays in the fresh air. Giving him an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for pets will help to decrease inflammation. If Cole begins to get worse, have him examined by the veterinarian. Best of luck.

As long as she continues to act normally and her skin and fur remain normal, and she is otherwise healthy, I would not be concerned. If she seems irritated by the area or excessively licks at the area, she may need to be evaluated by a veterinarian.
