My dog walked in a yard sprayed for bugs. What should I watch for?

Vomiting, diarrhea, increased salivation, tremors, seizures, twitching are the most common signs if an animal eats a pesticide. Most pesticides sprayed on the lawn are not the cause of most cases of vomiting and diarrhea though they tend to always get blamed. If Bella drank from the bottle or ate a lot of the plant with the chemical then the her signs could be from the weed killer. He will likely be fine as the exposure was minimal and you decontaminate him soon after. Monitor for excessive drooling, vomiting or muscle weakness. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER. As long as he continues to behave normally though, he should be fine.

In general, most over the counter pesticides when dry, will not harm pets. The most common signs seen will be some transient vomiting, possible drooling, and possibly diarrhea when ingested in small amounts. Obviously there are many different kinds of pesticides available and the signs associated with them can vary greatly. I doubt the spider had enough of the toxin on it for it to be toxic to your puppy. If he was going to show symptoms from this type of toxicity they usually start within one hour of ingestion.
