My dog is peeing inside frequently and has diarrhea. What's wrong?

Hi there. Good question. My first thought with both of them sick is a parasite, or a food sensitivity. Parasite being most probale. I would bring in a fecal sample from both of them to start. If that is negative, then it may need to have a fecal culture and PCR test done for the more rare bacteria and parasites. Make sure you aren't feeding any raw food, and until the testing is finished, Irecommend a bland diet of hills i/d food, or cooking boiled chicken and rice for 5-7 days

This can be due to any number of causes such as stress, a diet change, eating something that didn't agree with him or an intestinal infection. Inappropriate urination can be due to many different factors including: - urinary tract infections - urinary bladder inflammation (cystitis) which can be due to stress - urinary stones - diabetes - cushing's disease - hypothyroidism - pyometra (not related to Pongo because this only occurs in females) - behavioural I recommend having Pongo seen by your vet, and they will likely check a urine sample to look for stones. Dalmations are very prone to a certain type of stone, so this is the most likely cause. Pongo might be at risk of a urethral blockage (can be fatal) if stones are present and get stuck in the urethra, so getting this diagnosed early is important. I recommend a visit to the vet when they are open for a urine check, and possible x-rays or ultrasound. Not all stones show up on x-rays. Best of luck with Pongo!

She could have a urinary tract infection or even diabetes causing her to have accidents on the house. Both of these could cause a decrease in energy. Straining to defecate can be a sign of constipation or diarrhea. Diabetes is usually signaled by a dramatic increase in thirst. She will likely need her urine tested and possibly bIoodwork. It sounds like the diarrhea is resolving, so as long as that continues I wouldn't worry about seeing your vet. You can gradually transition back to his usual diet once the stool seems mostly formed. Urinating inside can occasionally be a sign of a urinary tract infection, urinary disease, or a disease that is causing dilute urine. If Louis seems to urinate more frequently or has another accident I'd recommend having your vet examine him and check a urine sample.

Poor Bella. This may be behavioral or there may be something going on causing her to have accidents. I would first want to rule out any medical issues. I would have your vet take a look at her and check her fecal for parasites including giardia and campylobacter as these can cause a loose stool and even just an increased urgency to go to the bathroom. I would also have them check a urinalysis to ensure she doesn't have a urinary tract infection (UTI), UTIs commonly causing them to have accidents in the house. If everything is normal, I would start back at basics with training. I personally like to crate train dogs because I feel like it works the best. I will attach more info below. Diarrhea can be the result of an intestinal infection, dietary indiscretion (eating something that upset her gastrointestinal tract), inflammation or even stress. Bloody urine is typically due to a bladder infection, bladder stones, a primary bleeding disorder or in rare cancers bladder cancer. She will need to see her veterinarian for urine and fecal testing as she will likely require medication to treat her issues. I hope this information helps!
