Why is my dog's nose blocked on and off with fluid and licking?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This could also be just a severe infection. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. She could have a grass seed stuck in her nose, or it may have been stuck and moved on but caused irritation. The nose is biggeer than you think so often the endoscope is needed to have a good look and temive anything stuck. I would make her a appointment at the vet as it will likely come to that. If discharge is clear it couldnt have been stuck long as usually foreign mayerial causes an infection. If you want to try something first yku could get a syringe of saline (boil kettle, let cool add a little salt) and gently flush her nose. Do it slowly so that she does not choke on the water, she will swallow it. She may not tolerate this and if not do not persist as you could hurt her. If she lets you this may dislodge what is stuck or give the cavity a good rinse. If this doesnt resolve the issue it is time for the vet.

This is hard to say without a hands-on exam. Your dog could have an itchy nose, discharge from the nose due to an upper respiratory infection, or excess dryness. If this does not stop within the next 24 hours I suggest you take your dog to your veterinarian for an exam.

Poor baby. Definitely looks red and irritated. It may need oral antibiotics or possibly just some topical antibiotics. I would call and schedule an exam and get the correct medications. The cause could be infection, allergies, immune mediated conditions, and more. Needs to be looked at a little more closely.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Not sure exactly what is going on from your description. I'm assuming that there is some clear discharge coming from the nose. This could be many things including irritation from something in the air, allergens, the beginning of an upper respiratory infection, or even a foreign body in the nasal passage ways. I would advise that if it continues or starts to thicken or turn green/yellow, or other signs develop like coughing, etc you need to see your veterinarian and let them evaluate Chewie. They can do a physical exam and advise some tests if needed to diagnose what is going on depending on if it's just one nostril or both. Blood work, x-rays, or other tests may be advised. Once a diagnosis is made treatment can be recommended. Good luck with Chewie.

I am sorry to hear that Ace is not himself. Increased Licking and salvation can be signs of nausea. It sounds possible that Ace be have a gastrointestinal infection. I would advise the following; Bland diet of boiled chicken breast and white rice for three days. If diarrhoea or vomiting begin, Ace seems lethargic or in pain, he does not start to improve over tbhe next few days, take him to the veterinarian immediately. That does look quite irritated in the picture. Keiko could have an upper respiratory infection causing this or even a foreign body. This should be checked out by a vet, and I strongly urge you to give his vet a call now to make him an appointment for as soon as possible. The vet can diagnose what is causing this and can treat him. Best of luck.
