Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 6 days old | 2.8 lbs
I have a 5 month old Chihuahua . I took her to the vet today for a nail trim. The vet cut her back nail so short she yelled out and was bleeding . he then used a hot cauterizing pen on her wound and she continued to cry out. I ended up fainting from seeing her in so much pain. She continued to cry for 5 mins after we left and licking her nail. He did not bandage it or give her anything for pain or infection. Will she be ok? Im a wreck over this

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jezebel. Most hospitals will trim a patient's nails under anesthesia. It is a stess free time to have it done. I am sorry to hear that hers was not done well. I would alert her veterinarian to the problem to see if the nails can be fixed or if there is another reason for the change in her nails. There are rare skin diseases that can affect a patient's nails. I hope this information helps!
