Eating a lot of ice cubes might give him an upset stomach, but shouldn't affect his body temperature enough to be dangerous. Adding ice cubes to his water dish is an excellent way to help him stay cool in the summer. You can keep him entertained and cool by getting a big bowl that can go in the freezer and fill it with water and a few rubber toys, baby carrots, a few treats, etc. Unmold it into a big bowl to help contain the mess and let him lick on it all day.
