Is it safe to give my dog ice water daily when it's very hot?

Great question! I wouldn't give Chloe ice cubes when she is extremely hot and possibly suffering from heat stroke. You can give her ice cubes in her water as long as she isn't overheated, and you can give them to her to chew on when she's inside the cool house. I hope this helps :-)

That’s very kind of you. Giving them ice won’t hurt the dogs at all. HOWEVER, I would advise you to leave ice on the ground near the dogs rather than hand feeding them. I don’t want a dog to bite you. A stray dog could possibly carry rabies which is a deadly virus that could be contracted through a bite (if a tooth breaks the skin) from an infected animal. An easy recipe is as follows: 3 ripe bananas 32oz of plain yogurt 1 cup peanut butter Blend all three ingredients together and pour into an ice cube tray or however you want to freeze them. Freeze them in larger pieces for larger dogs. Always supervise her with a new treat and monitor for any vomiting or diarrhea signifying the new treat does not agree with her. Yes, ice can be a perfect treat for your puppy. It can keep her entertained, cool her off, and act as a treat without adding any extra calories to her diet. Just be sure to monitor her while she is chewing on the cubes to make sure she doesn't choke. I would first avoid those activities that cause overheating in your pet to begin with. Then if he does get overheated, cooling him off with topical cool water or a water bath is ideal. Just make sure he doesn't drop his temperature too low and never ever use ice cubes or fans to speed up the process. Use caution as wel because overheated pets can have a life threatening heat stroke if their core body temperature gets above 105 degrees Fahrenheit or so.

That is hot! Chlorinated pool water can cause an over drying of the skin. A baby pool full of tap water that is safe to drink is less likely to cause dry skin and is fine for the dogs to get in. Also make sure they have access to shade if they are outside. Please do not feed Cointhee any ice cream or other dairy products.
