My dog's eye is sore and blue after grooming. What should I do?

It sounds like your pet Daisy has a very common situation here which is a chemical burn or scratch on her cornea (surface of her eye). This is common after being groomed because shampoo or condition can get on the eye and isn't washed off properly or promptly. Poor girl. I would recommend taking her to your local vet as soon as you can to get her eye examined, tested and treated. Most pets with this condition recovery fully within 7 days time, as long as they receive treatment quickly. I hope that your pet Daisy resolves her eye issue soon! Best of luck and take care.

Poor guy. Unfortunately we see this a lot with pets that recently get groomed. It is likely Corry got some chemicals (i.e. shampoo, conditioner) in his eye, causing it to create an ulcer or scratch. He will need to see your local vet to have a stain test done on his eye to determine if our suspicions are right here. If he does have this going on, then a short course of prescription eye antibiotics should take care of the issue, as long as it has not progressed too far. You can place a cold compress on the outside lid for a few minutes tonight and then its best to get him seen by your vet first thing in the morning. I hope that your pet Corry gets well soon! It is likely that some shampoo, air from the dryer, or even small bits of hair from trimming got in your dog's eye and caused irritation. You can try to rinse your dog's eye gently with saline solution (like you use for contacts). However, there could be a scratch on your dog's eye (the cornea) as well. If it doesn't look better in 24 hours, see your veterinarian for testing to see if there is a scratch on your dog's eye and get appropriate medication.

Since it has not improved, consider an exam with your veterinarian. Kylo may have an infection, corneal injury (scratch or ulcer) or foreign body. Your vet can stain the eye to aid in diagnosing. The tear duct may also be flushed to clear obstruction. Place an e-collar (cone) on Mylo to prevent pawing or rubbing until he sees the doctor.

I would recommend having Rubble’s eye examined by your vet right away - it sounds like the shampoo could have caused a corneal ulcer. The blue color could be from corneal edema. The vet might want to stain Rubble’s eye to look for an ulcer and can prescribe appropriate drops.

Hello. A blue eye may indicate that the cornea has edema in it & needs to be addressed as quickly as possible. According to https://www.vetlocator.com there are 25 veterinarians within a 10 mile drive of your home. Ouch! This looks pretty irritated now. Ada could be having an allergic reaction to something, have chronic allergies that are starting for the season, or even have an issue with her immune system. I would recommend putting and e-collar (cone) on her tonight so that she can't rub her face and damage her eye and schedule an appointment for tomorrow with her regular vet. If she can't get comfortable this evening, or you don't have an e-collar, err on the side of caution and take her to an emergency clinic.
