My dog's eye looks scratched and irritated. What should I do?

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. I suspect that the scratching is due to allergies. I highly recommend that you have Bodhi evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If she has been scratching more than usual and scratching at that area, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Isabella needs to be examined by the veterinarian today. Signs like this are concerning for a scratch on the eye or something trapped in the eye. These conditions are not only very painful but they can also get worse quickly. She also needs to wear an elizabethan collar at all times to stop any rubbing. Have her examined quickly so she is out of pain and gets the correct treatment.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Finn! When it comes to eyes it is best to have the pet seen as soon as possible. I do not recommend starting any medications without an exam first. The only thin I recommend you do is to out an E-collar on to prevent Finn from rubbing his eye and causing further harm. You can warm compress the eye twice daily. Be sure you can tolerate the temperature first before putting it on his eye. I hope this helps and I wish Finn the very best!

It is difficult to tell from this picture but it looks like Stella may have been bitten in her eye. If this is the case I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian in the morning. She may have a puncture on her eye and to determine that the veterinarian would have to stain her cornea. Then medication can be provided. I worry that she has a scratch on her cornea or inflammation secondary to being hit in the eye by the plant. When it comes to eye injuries it is best to have the pet seen as soon as possible. A scratch on the cornea is treated with antibiotic drops or ointment in the eye and inflammation is treated with pain medications and steroids. Hello, thank you for your question about Pepper. Based on the photos that you've attached it looks like Kaizer has significant irritation of her eyelids and conjunctiva. There are many possible causes for this such as infection, allergies, parasites, etc. I would recommend having Pepper seen by your veterinarian so that they can examine the area and discuss the need for additional testing. They may recommend an impression smear/swab of the affected area to look at under the microscope. They can discuss additional treatment recommendations based on their findings, such as antibiotics, antihistamines, etc. In the meantime I would recommend continuing to use the e-collar to prevent Pepper for rubbing at her eyes.
