My puppy has a bump and mucus on its eye. Is it an infection?

I don't think she is blind in that eye yet but she suffers from a severe eye infection, you need to get a hold on antibiotic eye drops urgently, apply in both eyes every 4 hours for 2-4 days, once it starts getting better you can reduce the frequency to 2-3 times a day until it resolves completely, hopefully it is not too late to save that eye at least partially.

Thank you for including the picture, it is really helpful. The little bumps and the look of the lesion is starting to be suspicious of a mite called demodex mite. It is very common in puppies, and is not usually itchy (but it can be). A skin scrape should be done to look for the mites. Of Course other possibilities include skin infection or ringworm. Poor Coco. Mucous in the eye is a sign of an eye infection. You will need to take her into the vet first thing in the morning to have this treated. Any eye problem needs to be treated promptly because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I hope this helps.

Oso likely has an eye infection and I recommend to have him seen by his veterinarian. He will likely get antibiotic eye drops and the doctor may check for a scratch on the cornea as well. Make sure Oso is not rubbing at the eye as this can make it worse. An Elizabethan collar can help to keep the eye safe. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

I would wait until the puppy is fully examined by a vet. It is hard to say what the lump is at this stage. It could be local hair follicle infection and that will go away after a few days of treatment with ointment. However, it may be a small cyst that is rubbing the eye. In that case, the puppy will need a surgery to remove the lump, which could be tricky to do and also pricey.

Since your puppy is due for her rabies shot soon and she does not seem to have any problems arising from this bump, I think you can wait to show this to your vet until you go in for the rabies vaccination. However, if your puppy starts squinting, having a discharge from the eye, or generally appears bothered by this you should take her in to your vet before the vaccination date to have her eye and eye lid examined.

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Poor Daisy! From your picture, it appears as though Daisy's eye lid is swollen in corner (by her nose). This can be from an infection or an allergic reaction. If she is squinting her eye, keeping it closed, rubbing it, the eye is producing green-yellow discharge I recommend she be seen today. If not make an appointment to have her seen Monday.
