My puppy's eye wound has white bumps. Is it serious or normal?

Lesions like this can be a few things including a skin tumor, an ingrown hair, an infection or a blocked pore. You may monitor this lesion for the next week. Protect the area from scratching or rubbing with an elizabethan collar if needed and you may apply a warm (not hot) compress twice a day for 5 minutes. Check the lesion every day. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Carter! Possible causes are: skin infection, fungal infection, demodex or an immune condition call puppy strangles. His skin looks bad in the picture. I would recommend taking him to the Vet on Monday. Skin infections need antibiotics, demodex is treated with oral flea/tick medications like Nexgard, Simparica and Bravecto and puppy strangles is treated with steroids and antibiotics. Given the appearance of this lesion, the fact that they're on both eyes, and Honey's young age, my main suspicion is that these may be infected glands within the eyelids. Other possible causes include various congenital issues or infectious diseases. As long as Honey isn't squinting, rubbing at her eyes, or showing eye redness or discharge, it should be fine to wait until tomorrow to have these lesions evaluated. However, if she's rubbing her eyes or squinting, I think it would be prudent to have her examined right away since eye issues can dramatically change very quickly. Until you have her examined by her vet, you can try applying gentle warm water washcloth compresses to her eyes several times per day if she'll tolerate it. I hope that everything goes well!

From the photo, that looks to me more like a pustule (focal little infection) than a congenital defect (something he was born with). I wonder if he may have gotten a mild injury from playing with the other pups. If it hasn't gone away by the time the pup is ready to go home with you, I would make sure the breeder has the pup evaluated by their vet prior to you picking it up, or make sure the contract includes a clause that the breeder is responsible for having the bump evaluated and addressed.

Amaya looks like her skin is irritated, especially around her eye. Puppies can get bacterial infections, yeast infection or skin mites. Less common would be allergies in a young puppy like her. I recommend to have her examined by her veterinarian within the next day. The doctor may preform a skin test called a skin scrape to check for mites and then may prescribe medications. It's possible that this lesion is a cyst, a benign or malignant mass, inflammation from localized skin issues (e.g. mange, ringworm, infection, etc.), or even something as simple as an insect bite. The only definitive way to determine the cause of this type of lesion is with some diagnostic testing. The good news is that it doesn't look significantly irritated now or the cause of any major concern. You can try using a warm compress over this lesion twice a day for a few days to see if it gets smaller or resolves altogether. However, if the lesion grows more, opens up with any discharge, or seems to cause Marty to be itchy, then it should be checked out by your vet. I hope that everything goes well!

There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point.
