My 12 week old puppy has a red eye and mucus like substance coming out of it as well. It irritates him and keeps on scratching it. What could it be?

Oso likely has an eye infection and I recommend to have him seen by his veterinarian. He will likely get antibiotic eye drops and the doctor may check for a scratch on the cornea as well. Make sure Oso is not rubbing at the eye as this can make it worse. An Elizabethan collar can help to keep the eye safe.
I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
