My 3-month-old puppy has a white eyelid bump. Should I go to the vet?

I would wait until the puppy is fully examined by a vet. It is hard to say what the lump is at this stage. It could be local hair follicle infection and that will go away after a few days of treatment with ointment. However, it may be a small cyst that is rubbing the eye. In that case, the puppy will need a surgery to remove the lump, which could be tricky to do and also pricey.

It is hard to tell without a biopsy or a needle sample for examination under a microscope. That is probably what your vet will do when you take Peanut in. Sometimes masses that look like this are viral papillomas or benign skin growths, other times they can be aggressive soft tissue tumors. You can never say 100% without some diagnostic testing.

This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. I would suggest to have it checked as it can rub against cornea and create discomfort and possibly corneal damage in the long run. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). It may just be a stye or even an insect bite. As long as it isn't bothering him, I wouldn't be worried about it and just recommend monitoring it. A lot of times these go away on their own. However, if it is bothering him I would recommend placing an e-collar on him to prevent him from rubbing his face for now, then get him seen by your vet for medications to help it resolve. Given the appearance of this lesion, the fact that they're on both eyes, and Honey's young age, my main suspicion is that these may be infected glands within the eyelids. Other possible causes include various congenital issues or infectious diseases. As long as Honey isn't squinting, rubbing at her eyes, or showing eye redness or discharge, it should be fine to wait until tomorrow to have these lesions evaluated. However, if she's rubbing her eyes or squinting, I think it would be prudent to have her examined right away since eye issues can dramatically change very quickly. Until you have her examined by her vet, you can try applying gentle warm water washcloth compresses to her eyes several times per day if she'll tolerate it. I hope that everything goes well!
