My 6-month-old kitten keeps throwing up yellow foam. Should I worry?

Hello. I would stop all milk. Your cat may have developed an intolerance to milk. Offer plenty of fresh water, & low salt broths made from chicken or beef. If he continues to vomit, he may need to see a veterinarian to rule out parasites or other causes of intestinal disease that is making him unwell. I recommend getting your cat seen by your vet or an emergency vet right away. Cats need to eat, if they go more than a few days without eating they can develop serious liver problems which can be fatal. Continuous vomiting for so many hours is very exhausting and dehydrating, so your kitten likely needs some medical intervention to get better. Your vet will do an exam, labwork, possibly x-rays, and based on these results, your vet will have a better idea what is going on and can better advise you about treatment options.

I'm sorry to hear Marley isn't feeling well. I would be worried about something stuck in his GI tract. I would also rule out GI parasites or other infections. I recommend taking Marley to the vet for an exam and possible X-rays. Good luck and kisses to Marley!

There are many reasons for cats to vomit. If Winter has not been checked for parasites within the last month, I recommend to have this done to make sure they are not causing the vomiting. If Tom only vomited one time I would not be that concerned but multiple bouts of vomiting in a short period of time is very concerning. He really needs to be examined by a vet as soon as possible. Vomiting is never normal but it does happen fairly often to kittens. The most common cause of vomiting is eating too much food. Some kitten are just greedy, they eat more than they need. Kittens also vomit because they ate something that they normally don't get ( eating human food, scrapes, scavenging in general). Shadow's problem should settle down by itself. You should withhold food for Shadow for 4-5 hrs and then offer very small amounts every 1-2hrs. He also should be offered only small amounts of water as drinking plenty of water will probably trigger another vomit. Some kittens may vomit because of intestinal worms or gut infections. In that case, they often develop diarrhea, become lethargic and go completely off food. If your Shadow is showing these symptoms, you should take him to your local vets for a check.

Try feeding smaller, more frequent meals. If Smokey eats fast, try a 'slow feed' bowl to address the issue. Sometimes, switching to a canned food may help. If the vomiting persists or worsens, have him examined by your veterinarian.
