Why is my female cat crying? Is she pregnant, in heat, or sick?

It sounds as though Lucy is likely in heat. Unspayed female cats go into heat fairly frequently through the spring and summer months. During this time they often vocalize loudly, display behavioral changes and sometimes have a noticeable vaginal discharge. During this time, be sure to keep Lucy inside and away from any intact male cats, or schedule an appointment to have her spayed to avoid any unwanted pregnancies.

I am sorry to hear that your pet seems to be in pain. In order to recommend any kind of treatment we must know what is wrong with your poor cat. In order to do that, it sounds like a vet visit is needed to properly examine your kitty and hopefully find out what the underlying problem is. If she has been crying for more than 30mins-1 hr, then it is highly recommended to take her in right away for treatment. It honestly sounds like this is more than what can be treated at home if she is in that much discomfort. I do hope that your poor cat is able to make a full and speedy recovery soon! Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Starting her heat cycle in a unspayed female cat is the most common reason for increased vocalization. Other possible causes are: she sees other cats outside (territorial), anxiety (cats outside, starting heat, changes to house hold), attention seeking, or medical issue. I would close the blinds temporarily, provide environmental enrichment (cat trees, interactive cat toys, lazer pointer, play with her) and consider spaying her. You can also consider a Vet exam to be sure it isn't a medical condition. If she is otherwise fine, I hope that is improves with time and some of the above. Have a great day!

Hello, sorry to hear about Maanu. Depending on how far along she is, this may be a sign that she is going into labor. If so, make sure she has comfortable area that is private so that she may have her kittens. She may also be hungry as pregnant cats will have a higher demand for food especially if she is earlier in her pregnancy. If Maanu continues to vocalize, then she should be evaluated by a veterinarian so that they can ensure that she is healthy through her pregnancy. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I know in previous posts that she recently lost a kitten, she could be more searching for that one. She will need more time to adjust to the lose of that kitten. I wish you the best!

Hello. It is possible that something got her kittens & she is distressed over this. Only time will help. It is possible that she also in heat again & a cat in heat is a very vocal cat. I would try to follow her to see if you can find the kittens. If she does not seem to want to find the kittens, then they may indeed be gone.
