Why is my young female cat crying with discharge? Is she in heat?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Lucy is adorable! If Lucy isn't spayed she is likely in heat. She will continue to go in and out of heat until she is either bred or you spay her. She likely wants to get outside to mate. If she is spayed then she may see or hear other outdoor cats and want to get outside. Cats are very territorial. I would clothes the blinds and capture and release the feral outdoor cats in a different location. I hope this helps and I wish you and Lucy the best!

She is likely crying due to hormonal imbalance. She may be in heat again. She may be pregnant, I don't know as I haven't examined her. I suggest you get to a vet and if she is not pregnant she needs to be spayed ASAP. She sounds like she is very sensitive to hormones and that is not going to stop without spaying. Cats do not show that they "miss" their babies or their other families by crying out loud. That is not normal.

If you are seeing liquid from the anus, I would be concerned she could have diarrhea or her anal sacs could be full, in which case I would recommend a veterinary exam. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Starting her heat cycle in a unspayed female cat is the most common reason for increased vocalization. Other possible causes are: she sees other cats outside (territorial), anxiety (cats outside, starting heat, changes to house hold), attention seeking, or medical issue. I would close the blinds temporarily, provide environmental enrichment (cat trees, interactive cat toys, lazer pointer, play with her) and consider spaying her. You can also consider a Vet exam to be sure it isn't a medical condition. If she is otherwise fine, I hope that is improves with time and some of the above. Have a great day!

If you are certain that Clowny is not pregnant then it could be discharge related to vaginitis, or inflammation/infection of the vagina. it might also be a sign of a uterine or urinary tract infection. I'd recommend seeing your veterinarian for them to examine Clowny if this discharge continues.

It sounds like LaLa could be in heat! Cats in heat vocalize a lot and are more affectionate than usual. Their behavior can be extremely annoying while in heat, so I'd have her spayed if you don't want to deal with this anymore. Best of luck.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Cash'mir! Can you repost with specifics on what she is doing? I am thinking that she may be in heat? 6 months is about average for a cats first heat. The cat can cry and kind of army crawl around. They also stick their hind end in the air and when you tap their lower back they cry and stick up their hind end. If this isn't what she is doing please repost with specifics. I hope this helps!
