My cat is in labor and a red sac is hanging out. Is this normal?

The sac was likely a water bag, there should be a kitten along shortly. Your cat should be able to get on with the labour herself with minimal input. Keep an eye on her but try not to interfere overly. If she is pressing for more than 30mins or there is a long time between kittens call your local vet.

It's the amnionic sac, inside of it there is most likely a kitten, this is the very last stage of labor and the kittens should come out within a couple hours tops, if it takes longer you need to take her to the vet urgently.

Hello. There may not be any problems. This might be the placenta from one of the first kittens, or the beginning of the 3rd birth. As long as she seems content & is caring for the newborns, I would just give her more time. If the sack has not passed by tomorrow, try to have Diora seen by your vet tomorrow. I would nor be concerned at this stage. Multiple placemats can be expelled at the same time and this is what you may have seen. As long as she is able to nurse the kittens and is eating and drinking well, I would just monitor for now. If she becomes lethargic or inappetant then I would get her checked by a vet. You can have an ultrasound performed to ensure everything is ok. If you notice excessive bleeding all of a sudden, I would get her seen as soon as possible. I hope this helps! Keep watching her, but do not disturb her. If she does not produce another kitten in about an hour and the red bubble is still there and looks thick, like fleshy tissue, you need to take her and her babies to the vet as she may have a uterine prolapse, which can cause her to die, if it is not reduced.

I am sorry but I cannot tell by the picture exactly what that is. It could be a placental sac that has an infection. If you have not been to the vet to confirm pregnancy I would recommend doing that. It is a good idea to know how many kittens are present and also that mom is healthy and can deliver than normally. Kitty should be nesting an showing signs of constractions. Ususally you will see her sides contract. If you are not seeing this is unlikely she is in labor. However taking her to a vet would let you know for sure.

This could be a prolapsed vagina or even a prolapsed uterus or urinary bladder, You will need to take Katniss and her babies to a vet preferably now. You can put a moist cloth on the red sac to keep it from drying out. It will need to be put back inside so there is no permanent damage to her vagina or uterus.
