Is my 7-month-old cat too young to get pregnant and have kittens?

Although cats can get pregnant at seven months old or so I prefer to wait to breed them until they are mature at one year old. That way they are bigger and usually better mothers than if they give birth when they are still kittens themselves. If you want to have a certain breed of kittens then you can find purebred breeders who have male breeding cats. Unfortunately there are already too many kittens that don't find homes so if you want to raise kittens check with your local shelter or rescue group as they often have pregnant cats that need fostering. If she was mature enough to come in to heat she should be fine. When the kittens are weaned at 6-8 weeks I would have her spayed though to prevent further pregnancies and to control the cat population. Good luck!

It is recommended to wait until they are a little older before having their first litter. In my experience, young cats are not good mothers to their litter. I would wait until she is 18 months-2 years.

He is quite young to be sexually mature but it is possible. If he is mounting her then he could potentially get her pregnant. If he doesn’t want to mount her then it is likely that he his isn’t old enough. I hope this answers your question.

Yes, Pixie can get pregnant as soon as she starts cycling. Yes, it will stunt her growth a little as she is not fully mature yet. She will not mate once she is pregnant but may come back into heat once the litter starts weaning. Cats can be prolific breeders so I would highly recommend to have her spayed ASAP! She can produce up to 27 kittens a year! Lastly, no, you may not be able to tell she has had kittens once she is spayed. I hope this helps!

If everything comes back fine then you can try. I wouldn’t breed her 10 or older and would spay her as soon as you are done. I hope this helps!

A veterinarian can do an ultrasound around 28 days for pregnancy to look for fetal heartbeats. X-rays can be done to count kittens by 45-50 days of pregnancy.
