Betta fish are tropical fish that benefit from a heater maintaining a consistent water temperature in their environment. As Bettas are generally kept in smaller aquariums under 10 gallons, a lower wattage heater should be chosen to prevent overheating of the aquarium. There are several submersible heaters available for small aquariums, including adjustable heaters and compact, flat heaters that are easy to hide behind décor and don't take up a lot of space in the aquarium. A thermometer should be visible in your Betta's aquarium to ensure the water is maintaining the correct temperature or if heater settings need to be adjusted.
MAs Bettas do need water temperature between 72-82F, a heater is ideal for the best care for your Betta, especially when kept in homes that are kept on the cooler side.
Although bettas can live in small aquariums, an ideal habitat should be large enough for a filter and heater as well as ample room for décor and swimming area.

How to introduce betta fish to neon tettra, guppies
My betta fish is no longer eating and is lethargic and dull in color. He lives in a 10gal tank which is both heated (80 degrees) and filtered. He isn't interested in me or any food I try to offer him, and it's been like this for a few days, with the no eating issue going on for about a week. I have tested the water and there are no issues with it, and a water change was completed shortly before he started acting funny. I've only had him for a year or so, but I bought him as an adult.
He's a full grown betta fish, I've had him for a little over half a year, adopted him from a friend. He has a filter and a heater in his tank & I try to stick with recommended products. As of the last couple months, his fins are curling up in the back and he will only eat one pellet every other day or so. I had been feeding him three pellets twice daily. Last week I started cleaning his 1 gallon tank twice a week instead of once a week, and am considering upgrading to a 2.5 gallon tank instead.
My male Betta fish isn’t moving
I have a question about our betta fish. He seems to be hanging at the top of the tank, not moving much. We have a heater and the tank is at the right temp. He only started doing this the last couple of days. He isn't really eating or moving around. Just sitting high up at the top of the tank.
Trying to figure out why my female betta died this morning. I had a male in the tank with her (with a divider). She was acting fine and eating. I did do a water change but I only but in “bottled betta water”. I also added a heater but I unplugged it when it got to 82 degrees. The male is fine. Do I need to do a water change or anything for him or should he be fine? I got them both a week ago at the same time
My betta fish is turning white!please help!!
Hello, I have a betta and I'm sure he has moderate fin rot. Thing is I have him in a 1.1 bowl because I broke my bigger 2.5 gal tank. Ive been doing water changes and recently bought aquarium salt, bettafix, and Tail and Body Cure from API but I'm not sure how to use it in such a small tank w/o a heater... I know its such a bad environment but its not for long. I just need my betta to last a weak till I get a decent tank. Could you please give me a suggestion. I greatly appreciate your time.
Can Betta fish tank have sand from river?
hi I bought the imagitarium fresh water uv purified water for my betta,s. Is this good water for them and does it have the nutrients they need? thank you
I just got a Betta fish from someone a week ago (she had him for about 2 months). He's in an unheated, 1 gallon tank. I didn't know it was bad to keep him in there until I noticed some white stripes around his gills and his eye over night; also some discoloration. I learned on the internet it's not good to keep them in this environment (just changed his water). I'm not sure if it's Ich, Popeye, or finrot. How can I cure him quickly so he doesn't die soon? (Get a new tank, medication, etc.?)
