Questions
should the heater keep heating up my 3 gallon tank after 82F because the tempter in my tank kept on rising. i unplugged the filter when it hit 82F because i was scared i was going to over heat my tank.
- Yes, this heater will continue to heat 24-7. It does not have an auto shut off.

When I was looking at the description, and it stated that this product can cause cancer. Is this true?
- Hi there! This is just Prop. 65, a Californian regulation. This product is perfectly safe.

I just got this heater for my 1.4-gallon tank to make betta more comfortable. After reading some of the reviews I worry that this heater may be too much for such a small tank. So my question is - is it safe to use it for such a small tank?
- I have used this heater in a tank of the same size and it worked great. Its auto set to 78 degrees and shuts off when the water is warm enough. I do recommend having a thermometer just for piece of mind to make sure it's holding at the correct temperature

What is the preset temperature of this Aqueon Mini Heater? I have a 2.5 gal quarantine tank and it heated it up rather quickly. Right now it's at 80 degrees and I'm worried it's going to boil my Moscow guppies. Thanks.
- It depends on the ambient temperature. When the air in the room is cold (winter or AC) my 2.5 gallon tank stays around 77-78°. When it's warm (heaters running in winter, no AC in summer) I turn it off so the tank won't overheat. It's a simple heater, and it works if you need constant heating. If you need a heater that will change temperatures based on fluctuations in ambient temperatures that affect water temps, this one won't work.

I want to get a 5 gallon tank for my betta. Will this heat up the entire tank? I need it to be between 65 and 70. Also, how do I control the tempature?
- The mini heaters DO have an auto-shut off in case it overheats. This is different than an adjustable heater. These little heater will just keep heater regardless of your tanks water temp. You cannot set it for 78', and expect it to stop there. I have not found one for small tanks without this issue. Let me know if you do. Depending on your location and day.night temps this can be a real problem. I use my 5gallon tank only as a hospital/quarantine tank so I only have to put up with this guessing game for short periods of time. Good luck!

How does it work? Do we need to plug in or its work in battery? I need one that work with battery.
- The Aqueon Mini Heater must be plugged into an electrical outlet. I purchased this for my Biorb 15L (4 Gallon) aquarium 22 months ago and it still works perfectly. It does not have a thermostat control, so you must use it in the recommended size aquarium or you run the risk of the water being too warm or not warm enough. Also, be sure to unplug the heater before removing it from the water, or the safety shut-off will activate and you will have to replace the heater. Finally, if you find that it is recommended for your aquarium (size), you will appreciate the simplicty and cost of this heater. Note: I also have an 8 gal, 16 gal, and 75 gal aquarium and each one has a different model and size Aqueon Heater in it. They operate constantly and the oldest one has run without failing since I set up my very first aquarium 4 years ago. Good luck and enjoy your aquarium!

What’s the maximum temperature that this heater reaches? Will it automatically shut off once it reaches a set temperature?
- The dial says 88 degrees is maximum and mine seems to follow the numbers on dial accurately I keep 2.5 gallon tank at 78 or 79 degrees and yes it has thermostat that turns heater on and off when heat is needed...

how do i know if my heater is on and working?
- If the tank temp seems lower than it should, I’ve taken the heater out and felt it to see if it’s warm. If you can’t feel the heat coming from it when you touch it (and it’s been plugged in), it’s probably not working. I’ve had to replace mine 2x in the past couple of years bc it stopped working.

how do i know if my heater is on?
- If you don't have a thermometer, you should still be able to feel that the water or even the glass is warm, keeping in mind that it could take several hours for the water to get warm.

Is the 10w heater adjustable or not? I see some Aqueon replies saying es and some no. Also, how can I tell if it’s stopped working? My water temp is at 67 with heater in for 24 hours. This is too cold for Betta.
- Mine was not, a red light would come on indicating it was heating up. When temperature was right the light would go off. An indicator it has stopped working is if the light no longer comes on. Its a great heater to use, the beta I had loved it.
