My hamster hasn't pooped in 4 days. Is this a medical emergency?

A change in diet, stress, any mild upset can put a normal routine off. If Baby is otherwise normal, give her another day or so. If she is straining, lethargic, vomiting, or otherwise unwell, please talk to your regular vet at your earliest convenience. Take care.

She may need fluids under her skin to provide her with more hydration. If the problem is severe enough, then an enema will be necessary. I hope this information helps!

Hello, and congratulations on your new hamster! Baby hamsters are so small that you may not notice any urine that gets soaked up by the bedding. Poops will be very small at this age too, probably no larger than 1-2 mm in length. You can search through the bedding for these, but if Pebbles is eating and active, then I would not worry too much. Certainly if her energy or appetite decreases, I would then seek veterinary attention as she may not be feeling well. I hope this helps, and that Pebbles continues to do well!

Hello. Is Fluffy sitting in the litter box trying to poop? I am not sure what fibo syrup has in it ( tried to research this product & can not find the ingredients ), but we use a product called Miralax here. It is also known as polyethylene glycol 3350. We will give 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon with each meal of wet food. Try to increase fluid intake by offering chicken or beef stocks & broths, tuna water, & of course, fresh water. If Fluffy is eating, give her another 24 hours, but if she does not defecate, she may need professional help & you will need to have her evaluated by your veterinarian. Thanks for reaching out about Buddy and including photos. He appears very ill, and a veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Intestinal infections and parasites can cause rectal/colonic bleeding, leading to illness. A fecal examination under the microscope can determine the type of parasite and the specific treatment. Offering fluids via a syringe can helps decrease the risk of dehydration. Good luck.
