My gecko has a bump on its belly. What is it? What can I do at home?

Keep an eye on it. It may be "normal" for your gecko or it could be localized trauma or infection. If it gets bigger or affects his eating, then have him examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles.

This is not normal but appears to be a small abscess, possible from a piece of retained shed, trauma like a splinter or trauma from rubbing the nose on things. If he will let you, a warm compress might help organize the lesions. Likely this will open and drain, but if it persists, a veterinarian should be seen. Good luck.

Oh, your poor little Gecko! That's rough! Are you sure it is a female? The two things coming out the back end may be hemipenes as the males have two bulges on the underside fo the tale where their hemipenes are. If that is what is going on, it means a vet needs to try to put them back or or they may need to be amputated. Also, your little friend may need some anti inflammatory meds to reduce swelling after being stuck like that.

Thanks for reaching out about your gecko. Could it be a blister from a heat lamp? check heat lamps and how close your gecko can get to them (i.e. basking site on a branch). Maybe place a thermometer at that spot to check. Infections can also cause some blistering. If persists, a veterinary visit is recommended. Good luck.

Make sure you don't have two males as this could lead to stress or bullying which can affect appetite. If you do have two males, provide a larger enclosure with multiple hides for them to use. Feed them separately if you can and use a kitchen scale to monitor the weight of the skinnier gecko. See your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles if there is no weight gain or weight loss. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites.
