My leopard gecko has a hard lump on its arm. What should I do?

Your gecko may have a small abscess that has formed because of a wound/injury. If you are unable to take her to the vet just keep an eye on it for now. Thanks for reaching out about your gecko. Could it be a blister from a heat lamp? check heat lamps and how close your gecko can get to them (i.e. basking site on a branch). Maybe place a thermometer at that spot to check. Infections can also cause some blistering. If persists, a veterinary visit is recommended. Good luck.

The most likely diagnosis is going to be an abscess. Abscesses appear as hard tumor-like swellings. An abscess is an infected swollen area within body tissue, containing an accumulation of pus. The other option would be that this is a tumor. I suggest you get Pancake to your vet for an exam. Whether it is an abscess or a tumor, treatment from your vet will be needed. Hope this helps. Oh, your poor little Gecko! That's rough! Are you sure it is a female? The two things coming out the back end may be hemipenes as the males have two bulges on the underside fo the tale where their hemipenes are. If that is what is going on, it means a vet needs to try to put them back or or they may need to be amputated. Also, your little friend may need some anti inflammatory meds to reduce swelling after being stuck like that.

The area in question may be local irritation or infection. Monitor it for resolution or spread. It will likely disappear at the next shedding. If it gets worse or if Peaches develops lethargy or decreased appetite, then have her examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles to diagnose injury or infection.
