Is unsafe shampoo on a nursing dog dangerous for her puppies?

Coco will likely be just fine as long as this was a flea shampoo intended for dogs, and none of it got into his eyes. I recommend drying him gently with a towel and ensuring he stays warm enough. If he stops eating or drinking, or begins showing any unusual clinical signs such as wobbliness, trembling, or seizures, or he starts squinting his eyes, he should be seen by a veterinarian right away. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It depends on the active ingredient in the shampoo, but likely no. Pyrethrins are not safe in pregnant dogs. I would contact your Vet for Fipronil products or look online. I am assuming by "children" you mean the puppies and not human children. If you want to tell me the name of the shampoo and the chewable tablet I can look in to it's safety. I do not recommend vaccinating pregnant dogs. I hope this helps!

If the shampoo is made for dogs and cats it should be fine for puppies. If you are unsure then use an oatmeal based shampoo or just use Dawn dish soap. I hope this helps!

I would monitor Mufasa for now and if he begins to tremble, shake, twitch or have seizures, take him to the veterinarian immediately. You did the right thing by rinsing him off immediately. Since you washed it off right away she should be fine. Just to be sure I would keep a close eye on her for the next day or so. Hello. Thank you for using PetCoach. You should not have to use any flea shampoo now that she is on the Nexgard. Those flea shampoos are harsh on their skin and full of chemicals. You can use the L'oreal but it is not really recommended. If you do use it, use it sparingly and don't make it a habit. Dog skin is a different pH than ours, therefore, our shampoos tend to dry them out and strip the natural oils from their coats. I suggest you use a calming dog shampoo like this one. It will not dry her out or strip the oils.
