My 5-week-old puppy got flea shampoo. Is he okay? What to do?

I accidentally wash my 5 weeks old puppy with a flea shampoo what can i do ? Is it going hurt him ?

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Coco will likely be just fine as long as this was a flea shampoo intended for dogs, and none of it got into his eyes. I recommend drying him gently with a towel and ensuring he stays warm enough. If he stops eating or drinking, or begins showing any unusual clinical signs such as wobbliness, trembling, or seizures, or he starts squinting his eyes, he should be seen by a veterinarian right away. Accidentally sprayed my puppy with flea spray. What should I do?

Hello. You should immediately wash your puppy to remove as much of the spray as possible. Use warm water and dish soap. Avoid getting soap in his eyes and water in his ears. Be sure to rinse him thoroughly and then towel dry and make sure he stays warm until he is fully dry. My dog has fleas. I accidentally used cat flea shampoo. Is he safe?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It depends on the ingredients in it though none of them tend to be harmful to dogs so Whiskey should be ok. Is Sergeant's flea shampoo safe for my 7-week puppy? It's for 12 weeks.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is not a good idea to use flea products off label, as they can be very dangerous. However, if you are going to see problems with it, then the puppy should already be tremoring or shaking. If you haven't seen any issues in the first 48 hours then it is very unlikely to see any concerns. There aren't any long-term effects. I would just monitor for now. Best of luck with your new puppy!

Is it safe to bathe my 5-week-old puppy? What about flea shampoo?

Hello, yes it is ok to bathe your puppy however, please use warm water and make sure she is thoroughly dry after her bath. Some flea shampoos may be ok for puppies this young, you should find the recommended age for the shampoo you are trying to use on the bottle itself. Most often, if you puppy has fleas, it is most safe to bathe with plain water and shampoo. Most of the time, you won't need flea shampoo. Hope this helps and best of luck.

My puppy is squinting one eye after a flea bath. Should I worry?

It could also be due to an eye injury of some sort like a corneal injury for instance or a corneal ulcer.
