My 6-week puppy got flea shampoo. Should I worry after quick rinse?

Coco will likely be just fine as long as this was a flea shampoo intended for dogs, and none of it got into his eyes. I recommend drying him gently with a towel and ensuring he stays warm enough. If he stops eating or drinking, or begins showing any unusual clinical signs such as wobbliness, trembling, or seizures, or he starts squinting his eyes, he should be seen by a veterinarian right away. Since you washed it off right away she should be fine. Just to be sure I would keep a close eye on her for the next day or so. Usually the symptoms are pretty immediate. If you haven’t seen anything within 2-4 hours she will likely be fine. Most often what you will see is neurological symptoms. Anything abnormal, get her to a vet ASAP. I’d wait about a week before applying any topical flea/tick medications at this point. Please stay away from Hartz products in general. They are not recommended. I suggest you talk to your vet about what products are best to use in your area.

Hi there. Beau may indeed be having a reaction to the shampoo. I would definitely use another dog shampoo and wash that Hartz product off. If you have access to an open animal hospital at this time I would definitely bring him in to be seen. He is very tiny, and it may be that the flea shampoo ingredients were a bit much for him. The tremoring could also be because is chilly, but I just wouldn't take the chance. I definitely don't want to alarm you, but I would just take him in to see a vet.

Hello. You should immediately wash your puppy to remove as much of the spray as possible. Use warm water and dish soap. Avoid getting soap in his eyes and water in his ears. Be sure to rinse him thoroughly and then towel dry and make sure he stays warm until he is fully dry. Most of these flea shampoos often do more damage than good, i recommend not to use any of them, instead use high quality flea treatments such as Advantage spot on or Bravecto tablets. it doesn't sound like Archie got too bad of a reaction though, he should be fine.

However, if you are going to see problems with it, then the puppy should already be tremoring or shaking. If you haven't seen any issues in the first 48 hours then it is very unlikely to see any concerns. There aren't any long-term effects. I would just monitor for now. Best of luck with your new puppy!
