Why is my St. Bernard vomiting bile, losing hair, not eating?

If you don't care for that vet, find another. I think the vomiting and hair loss/itching are unrelated. For vomiting, common causes would include dietary intolerance or indiscretion, food allergy, intestinal parasites, GI blockage, gastroenteritis, bacterial or viral infection, IBD, pancreatitis, among others. She likely needs blood work and/or x-rays to see what could be causing it. For the hair loss and itching, the most common causes would be a combination of fleas, flea allergies, and food allergies. Clementine should be on a monthly flea preventative, and may need a special diet once the vomiting is resolved.

The bilirubin is a bit high, as is the ALP (alkaline phosphatase) but neither of these values is super specific in terms of what the cause or the best treatment is. We can see the ALP be elevated with stress, age, and sometimes even normal cell regeneration within the liver. The bilirubin can be slightly elevated when the blood sample is what we call "hemolyzed," which can sometimes happen when blood is spun down for a blood test to be run. Therefore, if he is still showing symptoms of illness, I would echo what Dr Ana said; it may be time to consider imaging. Either X-rays or an abdominal ultrasound maybe helpful in identifying the problem and therefore identifying the best way to treat it. Take him back to the vet if he's still having troubles, as he probably is in need of some more fluids as well. Poor Sally. Loss of appetite and vomiting could be due to many things including a stomach illness, kidney disease, diabetes, liver disease, heart disease, and even cancer. I'd take her into a vet asap to get checked out.

Poor Baron! I'm sorry to hear that he's having so much trouble. It is indeed surprising that things are getting worse and he is vomiting so frequently on his current combination of medications, which makes me concerned that something more serious may be going on. I'm not sure how his IBD was originally diagnosed, but if he has not had an exploratory surgery with biopsies of his stomach and intestines, I would strongly recommend that at this point - he may actually have something more serious, such as GI lymphoma or some other type of stomach or intestinal cancer. An endoscopy with biopsies would also be an option, if this is available in your area.

Oh my. That is bit long for any dog to have vomiting and diarrhea. There are so many diseases that can cause these symptoms including: kidney disease, pancreatitis, liver/gallbladder disease, etc. Shadow needs to see a veterinarian right away for a proper exam, bloodwork and potentially x-rays to pinpoint what the underlying illness is. Once we know what we are dealing with, the correct treatment can be recommended to hopefully get Shadow well again. Excessive vomiting and diarrhea is very taxing on any pet and that alone can lead to severe dehydration, weight loss, and overall illness. So its best to get him seen right away for proper treatment. Until you can get him in try offering him small amounts of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese that is easily digestible and sensitive on the stomach.
