Why is my senior St. Bernard not eating and throwing up today?

Hi I'm sorry to hear that Sabo is unwell. There are many many potential causes for her to vomit frequently. With her age, I am concerned about kidney or liver issues. But also pancreatitis is common in her breed. Take her to your vet first thing tomorrow. They will run blood tests to check her internal organs.

Based on that history and your dog's age I would be concerned about something more serious going on than simple gastritis. His symptoms could be due to a metabolic disease like Diabetes, kidney failure, pancreatitis, toxin exposure as well as intestinal disease like an obstruction. With the lethargy he could be dehydrated and/or in pain and need further care. I recommend you have your veterinarian examine Barney as soon as possible.

I am sorry to hear about Bruno! With his symptoms going on for several days and his age, I would recommend bringing him into the vet for an examination as soon as possible. There are MANY possible causes for vomiting in dogs https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/vomiting-1/ ranging from ingesting some food that starts a bout of pancreatitis (which can result in decreased appetite and vomiting) to infections to tumors to other internal diseases such as liver or kidney issues. The vet will perform a physical examination and will likely recommend diagnostic testing such as x-rays and bloodwork to try to determine what is causing Bruno's illness and how best to treat it. Treatment will depend on the cause but often includes injectable medication to help with vomiting/nausea and fluids with an IV to help with dehydration.

I would recommend a broad spectrum deworming to see if that helps. Then, if it hasn’t been done yet I would run some blood work. If that is normal then I would encourage you to have her stomach and intestinal tract biopsied. Are you planning to spay her? If so I would recommend discussing the possibility of obtaining biopsy samples at the time of spay. This is something I have done frequently. Oh my. That is bit long for any dog to have vomiting and diarrhea. There are so many diseases that can cause these symptoms including: kidney disease, pancreatitis, liver/gallbladder disease, etc. Shadow needs to see a veterinarian right away for a proper exam, bloodwork and potentially x-rays to pinpoint what the underlying illness is. Once we know what we are dealing with, the correct treatment can be recommended to hopefully get Shadow well again. Excessive vomiting and diarrhea is very taxing on any pet and that alone can lead to severe dehydration, weight loss, and overall illness. So its best to get him seen right away for proper treatment. Until you can get him in try offering him small amounts of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese that is easily digestible and sensitive on the stomach. If this is a new, sudden behavior, it's a good idea to have Jazmine examined by your vet, especially since she is a senior girl. Sudden symptoms like this could indicate an underlying illness, something obstructing the GI tract, or even changes to the tract itself affecting motility. If she is gulping her food down, feeding smaller meals more often may help prevent her from throwing it all back up as well.

I would recommend taking Basil to see a veterinarian. Without a complete physical examination it is very difficult to say if it is time for Basil. The veterinarian can discuss with your friend if treatment or diagnostics is something that would help Basil or if something worse is going on with her that cannot be treated.
